The CFC conference is a unique learning opportunity for families and professionals to connect throughout the four-day program. The program offers keynote speakers who are experts in their fields, workshops tailored to connect families with others of similar experiences, individual consultations with CFC International Medical Advisory Board members, and childcare programs! HOTEL INFORMATION The conference takes place at the Seattle DoubleTree by Hilton, 187040 International Blvd., just ¼ mile south of the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. The hotel offers complimentary shuttle service between the hotel and the airport 24 hours a day. The hotel’s proximity to the Link Light Rail Station means you have easy access to downtown Seattle. Transport to the station is available upon request. There is also complimentary shuttle service to and from the Westfield Southcenter Mall at set times. Complimentary WiFi is available in the public areas of the hotel. Internet access is available in each guest room free of charge as part of our event. CFC Lounge: Teens and Young adults will have a comfortable hotel suite with couch, easy chairs, tables, bathroom and TV. This room will be staffed by volunteers. Crafts, movies, and chair yoga will be part of the schedule. Laundry: There are self-service washer and dryers for laundry on the 2nd floors of wing 4 and 5A. The appointments are an informal meeting with doctors but in no way determine official syndrome confirmation or medical treatment. You will not receive a written report but please feel free to take notes. Depending on how many people sign up, we will try our best to honor your first 3 choices. Your passport or appointment card is created for each family personally based on registration. Please consider each researcher or expert before making your selections. The passports will be handed out on Wednesday evening at the 7:00 PM orientation. Researchers will be on hand to explain their research projects and goals. Participation in research is totally voluntary. Incentives: Please see the Fundraising Campaign Incentives for details on the incentives for fundraising levels . Funds must be received by CFC International or postmarked by May 1, 2015 to count toward incentives for the 2015 Family Conference. Conference registration fees cover: Thursday evening Welcome Reception Friday breakfast, lunch, and dinner Saturday breakfast, lunch and dinner Conference handouts All conference workshops and general sessions Individual consultations with members of the Medical Community who are experienced with CFC syndrome – Meet an Expert/Researcher It is very important that you register for each meal you plan to eat at the conference so we will have an accurate count. There is no extra charge for meals but with food costs of almost $25,000, this will help us avoid having to unnecessarily pay for meals and ensure you are counted. Workshop Sessions On Friday and Saturday we offer a variety of informative workshops. Top clinicians and researchers will present the latest information in an easy to understand format while allowing you plenty of time for in-depth discussion. The small group format will allow you to delve with greater depth in to the areas that concern you most, while offering one-on one communication with CFC specialists. Note: Some workshops are offered multiple times so that you will not miss topics that are most important to you and all questions can be addressed. You’ll find workshop descriptions and registration forms in the next pages. Moms & Dad’s Nite Out We have a conference tradition to provide one night for each parent to get together with other mothers and fathers in the hotel. The relaxed and comfortable night club lounge setting gives parents a chance to chat and make that connection with others who have walked in your shoes . Mom’s Nite Out is Wednesday and Dad’s Nite Out is Thursday evening. No children allowed but feel free to invite your other family members and friends who might be attending the conference with you. What is the Saturday night Celebration Dinner? Each Conference hosts a celebration dinner/banquet. The dinner includes the silent auction and a dance party. All family members are invited to attend the dinner. Guests are also welcome to pay for their meal and attend. The cost for each additional adult guest not registered for the conference is $38 and the cost for each additional child guest ages 6-12 not registered for the conference is $19. What kind of weather should we expect in Seattle in July? Seattle is well known for its rain but it rains much less in July. You should expect Spring weather so be prepared for warm days, cooler nights, with a possible light rain each day. The average high is 77 degrees Fahrenheit and the average low is 57. Don't forget we will be indoors much of the day so pack a sweater for the air conditioned meeting rooms. What is proper attire? Casual, comfortable attire is appropriate for the entire conference.
