RAFFLE TIME – RED SOX VS. YANKEES: The CGS Spring raffle this year
continues our tradition to our Favorite game: Yankee’s (Odie) versus, of course,
Red Sox Nation (the rest of us). Tickets are $10 each or 3 for $25 and will be
available on Sunday’s during the coffee hour or from the church office during the
week. Drawing will be June 21st at 11:00 a.m. A special incentive prize will be given
to the person who sells the most tickets. Please help by taking tickets to sell. The
tickets will be for the NY/Boston game on Sat., July 11th.
DO YOUR SHOPPING THROUGH CGS: Don’t Forget!! We have added new
flexibility to our SCRIPS Program. You can now pay for your store cards (and we
have almost every store!) either when you place the order or when you pick up your
cards. Stores give back to CGS an average of 5% of your “Script”. Help us raise
funds for our ministries from outside sources - shop with CGS Script cards!!
TD BANK DONATION OPPORTUNITY: TD Bank will make an annual
contribution (from the bank’s funds) to the church based on a percentage of the
balances in personal and business accounts of parishioners. You can help by 1)
Going to your TD Bank, inform them that you would like your TD Bank accounts
labeled for Church of the Good Shepherd Affinity Program. 2) Contact Laurie at
the office to let us know you have done this so that our records match their
records.) Those without TD Bank accounts who desire to participate can do so by
opening an account there. CGS will not receive any account info or personal info
about your accounts or balances

CONGRATULATIONS CGS: “SHAKE IT UP” APPEAL GOAL QUICKLY MET:
While the generosity of our parish family should not be a surprise to anyone, we
surely never want to take it for granted! So it is with great excitement and thanks
that we announce that the “Shake It Up” appeal to raise $7,500 to purchase new
Godly Play curriculum lessons for the 3rd, 4th and 5th graders has reached its goal.
We are indeed very grateful to the many people who made donations over and
above their annual pledge to make this possible. It should be noted, that the catchy
and compelling “Shake-It-Up” song presented by Pastor Alanna, Mary O’Reilly and
Anastasia Corman-O’Reilly and Brett Greene on the organ, has set a new standard
for our future fund raising techniques!!

Genesis 3:8-15
The man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden at
the time of the evening breeze, and they hid themselves from the presence of the
LORD God among the trees of the garden. But the LORD God called to the man,
and said to him, "Where are you?" He said, "I heard the sound of you in the garden,
and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself." He said, "Who told you
that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you not
to eat?" The man said, "The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me
fruit from the tree, and I ate." Then the LORD God said to the woman, "What is
this that you have done?" The woman said, "The serpent tricked me, and I ate."
The LORD God said to the serpent,
"Because you have done this, cursed are you among all animals and among all wild
creatures; upon your belly you shall go, and dust you shall eat all the days of your
life. I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and
hers; he will strike your head, and you will strike his heel."

The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to St. Mark
Glory to you, Lord Christ.
The crowd came together again, so that Jesus and his disciples could not even eat.
When his family heard it, they went out to restrain him, for people were saying, "He
has gone out of his mind." And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem said,
"He has Beelzebul, and by the ruler of the demons he casts out demons." And he
called them to him, and spoke to them in parables, "How can Satan cast out Satan?
If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. And if a house is
divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand. And if Satan has risen up
against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but his end has come. But no one
can enter a strong man's house and plunder his property without first tying up the
strong man; then indeed the house can be plundered.
"Truly I tell you, people will be forgiven for their sins and whatever blasphemies
they utter; but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit can never have
forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin" -- for they had said, "He has an unclean
spirit."
Then his mother and his brothers came; and standing outside, they sent to him and
called him. A crowd was sitting around him; and they said to him, "Your mother
and your brothers and sisters are outside, asking for you." And he replied, "Who are
my mother and my brothers?" And looking at those who sat around him, he said,
"Here are my mother and my brothers! Whoever does the will of God is my brother
and sister and mother."

The Communion of the People
If you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you are welcome to share in the Bread and Wine of
Communion, regardless of your denominational background. Come to the rail at the direction of the ushers.
Stand or kneel at the rail and receive the bread (a wafer) in the palm of your hand. Receive the wine either
by drinking from the cup (guiding it to your lips) or by touching the wafer, which you have retained, lightly to
the wine, being careful not to touch your fingers to the wine. If you decide not to receive the Bread and/or the
Wine and would prefer to receive a blessing, simply cross your arms over your chest. If you are in need of a
Gluten-free wafer instead of the regular bread wafer, please indicate this to the clergy at the time you are
receiving communion.
Communion Motet (9:45):
H.A. Chambers
Dear Lord and Father of mankind, Forgive our foolish ways; Reclothe us in our rightful mind; In
purer lives, Thy service find, In deeper reverence, praise. In simple trust like theirs who heard, Beside
the Syrian sea, The gracious calling of the Lord, Let us, like them, without a word, Rise up and follow
Thee. Drop Thy still dews of quietness, 'Til all our strivings cease: Take from our souls the strain and
stress, And let our ordered lives confess Thy beauty of Thy peace. Breathe through the heats of our
desire Thy coolness and Thy balm; Let sense be dumb, let flesh retire; Speak through the earthquake,
wind, and fire, O still small voice of calm!
