Using 6.50mm needles cast on 66 (70, 74,
78) sts and work in 2 x 2 rib as foll:
Row 1: (RS) (K2, P2) to last 2 sts, K2.
Row 2: (WS) (P2, K2) to last 2 sts, P2.
Repeat last 2 rows until band measures 8cm
from beg, ending with a RS row, inc 13 sts
evenly across the last row ... 79
(83, 87, 91) sts.
Change to 8.00mm and commence cable
patt as foll:
Row 1: K6 (8, 10 12), (P2, K15, P2, K5)
twice, P2, K15, P2, K6 (8, 10, 12).
Row 2 & all even rows: Knit all knit sts and
purl all purl sts.
Row 3: As Row 1.
Row 5: K6 (8, 10, 12), (P2, C10F, K5, P2,
K5) twice, P2, C10F, K5, P2, K6 (8, 10, 12).
Row 7: As Row 1.
Row 9: As Row 1.
Row 11: As Row 1.
Row 13: As Row 1.
Row 15: K6 (8, 10, 12), (P2, K5, C10B, P2,
K5) twice, P2, K5, C10B, P2, K6 (8, 10, 12).
Row 17: As Row 1.
Row 19: As Row 1.
Row 20: As Row 2.
The last 20 rows form patt. Work in patt until
back measures 75cm from beg, ending with
a WS row.
Armhole Shaping
Keeping patt correct, cast off 3 (4, 4, 5) sts
at beg of next 2 rows ... 73 (75, 79, 81) sts.
Dec 1 st at each end of this and every row
until 63 (65, 69, 71) sts rem.*
Cont in patt without shaping until work
measures 87 (87, 89, 89)cm from beg,
ending with a WS row.
Shoulder Shaping
Keeping patt correct, cast off 17 (18, 19, 20)
sts at beg of next 2 rows.
Leave rem 29 (29, 31, 31) sts on a stitch
holder.

Work same as for Back to *.
Cont in patt without shaping until work
measures 78 (78, 80, 80)cm from beg.
Shape Neck
Keeping patt correct, patt 26
(27, 28, 29) turn.
Working only on these sts, dec 1 st at neck
edge (beg) of this and every row until 17
(18, 19, 20) sts rem. Cont without shaping
until work measures same as for Back to
Shoulder Shaping, ending with a WS row.
Cast off.
Place next 11 (11, 13, 13) sts on a holder for
centre front neck.
Rejoin yarn to rem 26 (27, 28, 29) sts and
patt 1 row.
Keeping patt correct, dec 1 st at neck edge
(end) of this and every row until 17 (18, 19,
20) sts rem. Cont without shaping until work
measures same as for Back to Shoulder
Shaping, ending with a RS row.
Cast off.
SLEEVES – Make 2
Using 6.5mm needles, cast on 30 (30, 34,
34) and work in 2 x 2 rib as foll:
Row 1: (RS) (K2, P2) to last 2 sts, K2.
Row 2: (WS) (P2, K2) to last 2 sts, P2.
Repeat last 2 rows until band measures 8cm
from beg, ending with a RS row, inc 7 sts
evenly across the last row ... 37 (37, 41, 41) sts.
Change to 8.00mm needles and commence
cable patt as foll:
Row 1: K2 (2, 4, 4), P2, K5, P2, K15, P2,
K5, P2, K2 (2, 4, 4).
Row 2 & all even rows: Knit all knit sts and
purl all purl sts.
Row 3: As Row 1.
Row 5: K2 (2, 4, 4), P2, K5, P2, C10F, K5,
P2, K5, P2, K2 (2, 4, 4).
Row 7: Inc, K1 (1, 3, 3), P2, K5, P2, K15,
P2, K5, P2, K1 (1, 3, 3), inc ... 39 (39, 43,
43) sts.
Row 9: K3 (3, 5, 5), P2, K5, P2, K15, P2,
K5, P2, K3 (3, 5, 5).
Row 11: As Row 9.
Row 13: As Row 9.
Row 15: K3 (3, 5, 5), P2, K5, P2, K5, C10B,
P2, K5, P2, K3 (3, 5, 5).
Row 17: Inc, K2 (2, 4, 4), P2, K5, P2, K15,
P2, K5, P2, K2 (2, 4, 4), inc ... 41 (41, 45,
45) sts.
Row 19: K4 (4, 6, 6), P2, K5, P2, K15, P2,
K5, P2, K4 (4, 6, 6).
Row 20: As Row 2.
The last 20 rows form patt, with an inc every
10th row. Work in patt with inc until there
are 47 (47, 51, 51) sts. Cont in patt without
shaping until work measures 55cm from beg,
ending with a WS row.
Shape Cap
Keeping patt correct, cast off 2 sts at beg of
next 2 rows ... 43 (43, 47, 47) sts.
Dec 1 st at each end of this and every alt row
until 29 (29, 31, 31) sts rem, then in every
row until 9 sts rem.
Cast off.
COLLAR
With right sides facing pin and sew left
shoulder seam using a backstitch.
Using 8.00mm needles, K29 (29, 31, 31)
from back neck holder, knit up 13 sts down
left front neck shaping, K11 (11, 13, 13) from
centre front neck holder, knit up 13 sts along
right front neck shaping … 66 (66, 70, 70) sts.
Work in 2 x 2 rib as for back band, until collar
measures 20cm from beg.
Cast off in rib.
FINISHING
With right sides facing, pin and sew right
shoulder and collar to 9cm from edge, turn
to right side and sew remaining seam. Pin
and sew side and sleeve seams. Set in
sleeve. Weave in loose ends.
