Typical stages of H. columbae A) young gametocytes B) fully
grown Macrogametocytes C-D ) fully grown Microgametocyte; Bar
= 10 μm.
Main Characters: microgametocytes. posses a large
compact masses (>1 μm in diameter of Pigment granules),
gametocytes with nucleus incentral position, usually grow
displacingg the nucleus of the erythrocyte laterally,
gametocytes do not encircle the erythrocyte nucleus.
Specimen Category: Blood smear and DNA.
Distribution in Colombia: Villavicencio, Bogotá D.C.
Altitudinal distribution:400-2560 m asl
Global distribution: world wide distribution
Vector: Microlynchia pusilla, Pseudolynchia brunnea,
Pseudolyncha canariensis
