These same principles apply to airborne sensors. With an array of missions, sensor systems are becoming ever more capable while at the same time are lighter, more compact, and more affordable than ever. Special mission customers no longer need a large multi-million dollar turbine-powered platform to carry heavy, antiquated technology. With modern, lightweight sensor payloads, Cirrus recognized that the SR22 and SR22T are the ideal platforms to integrate with modern systems to create a special mission aircraft that has no rival in terms of cost, systems integration, mission adaptability and flexibility. COMPANION TRAINER PIPELINE PATROL CAPABILITY THROUGH SAFETY FLEXIBILITY + VERSATILITY With the introduction of the “PERCEPTION” Special Mission Platform, Cirrus is preparing to provide our customers with the most technologically advanced special mission aircraft in its class. In addition to an array of special mission capabilities, the CIRRUS PERCEPTION will continue to offer all the other benefits available in the SR22 and SR22T. These include: the Cirrus Airframe Parachute SystemTM (CAPSTM), Cirrus PerspectiveTM by Garmin® avionics suite, air conditioning, 210+ knot cruise speeds, Flight Into Known Icing (FIKI) capability, and a useful load in excess of 1300 pounds, along with the widest most comfortable cabin in its class. SAFETY HAS BEEN IN THE FORETHOUGHT OF EVERYTHING WE’VE EVER DONE AT CIRRUS. AS THE “PLANE WITH THE PARACHUTE,” WE’RE FAMOUS FOR IT. The NASA airfoil used on all Cirrus aircraft was designed specifically to prevent the base-to-final stall/spin accident. This wing design also allows Cirrus aircraft to meet the stringent FAA Part 23 certification standards. Additional benefits from this design are superior stability and safety during maneuvering flight, especially low-level ground reference maneuvers. Cirrus is unique in general aviation for offering technology such as digital “smart” servos in the autopilot, ESP, hypoxia check, automatic descent mode and autopilot with underspeed protection and stall prevention. With our Cirrus Perspective by Garmin avionics suite we go further with multi-layered prevention incorporating both passive features that are nearly transparent during the flight and active features that reduce pilot workload.
