your love of Home Ec. with your friends and kids of
all ages! Bring everyone down to hear Michelle read
aloud Room for the Baby, her delightful new story
about a Jewish family that reuses and re-makes many

Breakfast
cast-off items in order to make room for the arrival of
a new baby! Lots of stitching and knitting are involved
in this story – and as we all know – crafting can be
contagious! Please bring an oddball sock or two and
we will help you make your own cast-offs into adorable
stuffed toys! The workshop and additional materials
are free with the purchase of the book! No prior sewing
experience is necessary. Tea and cookies will be
provided. Reserve in advance your own copy of Room
for the Baby or A Knitter’s Home Companion at Home
Ec. Workshop. Michelle will sign books purchased at
this event! We hope to see you there!
Please note: Without purchase of the book, there
will be a materials/instruction fee to participate
in the workshop portion of this event.

Choose from the delicious range of fabrics available
and make a fun and simple tote to use everyday!
Add custom pockets or embellishments. The original
pattern for this project will be provided during the class.
Africa Folklore Embroidery
Friday, November 9, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
$48, includes all supplies (including hand-dyed thread)
The most important rule in African Folklore Embroidery
is to enjoy yourself! Choose one of the wonderful kits
available and embark on your own safari. You’ll learn the
basic stitches and then add the fun touches that make
each piece unique. Your finished design can be mounted
as a beautiful picture or added to your favorite bag or
wearable pattern.
COIL: Wrapped in Scraps!
Saturday, November 10, 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (30-minute
lunch break)
Cost: $42 + supplies (one yard of fabric)
Coil pots, place mats, table runners or even a piece of
wall art, all without a potter’s wheel, these wonderful
pieces are made from fabric and cord on your sewing
machine! We'll start with the basic techniques. Everyone
will go home with a beautiful bowl. Then the only
problem will be which project to choose next!

Five (Easy) Ways to Applique With Steff Rose
Monday, November 5, 6 to 8:30 p.m.
$23, all supplies included except one fat quarter
This class will cover five applique techniques that Steff
uses in her quilting. Raw edge, fusible, and light-weight
stabilizer are a few approaches students will try out.
Students should bring a fat quarter of fabric for the project
base, and the rest of the supplies will be provided. The
focus of this class will be on learning how to do various
applique techniques, not completing a finished project.
Snöflinga Hat
A slouchy beanie by Jenny Gordy
Mondays, November 5 & 12, 6 to 8 p.m.
$35, supplies sold separately; you will need about 140
yards of worsted weight wool, plus needles and notions
Learn to knit Jenny Gordy’s hat design, with the designer
herself! See examples of the hat at www.shopwiksten.com.
This class is for advanced beginners who know how to cast
on, knit, purl, and decrease. You will learn to use circular
and double pointed needles and how to make bobbles.
GAUGE: 18 stitches and 28 rounds = 4” in Stockinette
Stitch (Please do a gauge swatch before coming to class
and bring correct needles for gauge.)
NEEDLES AND NOTIONS: One 16” circular needle and
one set of 4 double pointed needles, size US 8 (5mm) or
size needed to obtain gauge; one 16” circular needle two
sizes smaller than gauge needle, size US 6 (4mm). The
needle size depends on what yarn you buy; stitch markers,
blunt tapestry needle, and crochet hook in size H/5mm
Learn to Knit Anything!
Thursdays, November 8, 15 & 29, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
$40, supplies sold separately
Start with the basics of cast on, knit, purl and binding off
and learn to knit your first scarf, cowl or washcloth, or
choose any pattern you like to take your knitting skills to
the next level. Learn from the projects your classmates
are making, too!
Bias Skirt
Tuesday, November 13, 6 to 9 p.m.
$25 + approx. 2 yards of fabric
Make a flattering & comfortable fitting skirt that will
curve around your curves. Learn how to draft a pattern
based on your measurements and sew a skirt you can
work and run around in all year long.
Needle Felting
Thursday, November 15, 6 to 8:30 p.m.
$35, all supplies included
Use hand-dyed, unspun wool to create an adorable needle
felted animal. These animals are cuter than cute.
Favorite Skirt With Brittany Burggraaf of Those
Knotty Sisters
Monday, November 19, 4 to 7 p.m.
$35 + 1 yard jersey knit fabric (pattern included) Learn to sew Knotty Sisters’ most popular item, the
Favorite Skirt. This flattering and comfortable A-line
jersey knit skirt features a drawstring closure. We will
introduce sewing with knit fabrics and a variety of
techniques for a professional finish. This skirt can be
sewn on a regular sewing machine or a serger. Pattern
for both mini skirt and knee length skirt will be provided.
Quilt As You Go Striped Throw With Steff Rose
Wednesdays, November 14 & 28, 6 to 8:30 p.m.
$42 + fabrics (pattern included)
Unlike most, this is actually a quilt project that you can
get done quite fast because you piece and quilt at the same
time. With a little homework in between, you should have
your approximately 60”x 50” quilt completed by the end of
the second class and ready to go in time for holiday giving.
Please bring your own long ruler and rotary cutter.
Block of the Month With Steff Rose
Monday, November 26, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
$15
This month we will make the final block from Joy Lily's
book, Jaunty Star. This block, like the others in the BOM
series, can be combined to make a completed quilt top, or
with just one block, you can make a placemat. Kits are
available for purchase for approximately $5, or you can
bring your own pair of fat quarters. Students must have a
copy of Carefree Quilts. Students are welcome to join the
BOM at any point.
