ADMINISTRATOR POSITION
NORTHWEST REGIONAL TRADES & EMPLOYMENT TRAINING CENTRE
Applications are invited for the above position to commence August 1, 2015. The Northwest
Regional Trades & Employment Training Centre will be entering its first year of operation
commencing August 2015. The centre is located in the Terrace/Thornhill community within the
traditional territory of the Tsimshian First Nation. The centre will house trades and technical
training for secondary and adult students, and will also house the main office of the North Coast
Distance Education School. Approximately 40 continuing education students will be enrolled in the
welding and cosmetology trades programs in the first year. Expansion of the centre’s training
offerings will occur in the next few years with the growth of industry partnerships and trades
opportunities.
Coast Mountains School District is seeking a progressive, team-oriented administrator with strong
moral purpose who has demonstrated:















a passion for continuing education and trades training opportunities for the Northwest;
knowledge and experience in distance education programs;
knowledge and experience in business operations and working with trades;
knowledge and understanding of provincial trades training administration;
knowledge and experience working in the B.C. Ministry of Education Graduate Program;
experience working with Industry Training Authority (ITA) accredited organizations to develop
specialized trades programs;
experience in working and developing relationships with ITA;
knowledge and experience in supporting students through dual-credit trades programs;
in-depth knowledge of local industry employment trends;
previous trades-related employment experience;
experience/ability in developing marketing strategies and promotional materials;
good communication skills and working relationships;
respect for people from all cultures and walks of life;
respectful relationships with communities and businesses of the Northwest;
a passion for successful school completion for all students.
Applicants must possess a graduate degree in Education, preferably from a Canadian University,
and must be eligible for membership in the B.C. Ministry of Education Teacher Regulation Branch.
