For Immediate Release April 2, 2015 2015-2016 LEADERSHIP STAFFING NEWS The Board of Education for Coast Mountains School District is pleased to announce the following leadership staffing appointments for the 2015-2016 school year effective August 1, 2015: Alison Campbell Currently the Vice Principal of New Hazelton Elementary School, Ms. Campbell has been appointed Principal of New Hazelton Elementary School. She holds a Bachelor of Education Degree from the University of Alberta specializing in Elementary Education and Special Education and a Master of Education Degree from the University of Victoria where her thesis focused on Parental Involvement in Schools. She is currently working on a Post Graduate Certificate Program in Special Education with Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. Ms. Campbell has served as New Hazelton Vice Principal since September 2012. Her strong background in primary education, knowledge and passion for early learners and knowledge of formative assessment and literacy strategies will continue to serve New Hazelton Elementary School well. Carol Pickering Currently the Principal of New Hazelton Elementary School, Mrs. Pickering is moving to assume the position of Principal at Majagaleehl Gali Aks Elementary School. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from the University of Buenos Aires, Education Certification from Medaille College and a Master of Education Degree from Brock University in Integrated Studies. She also completed advanced study modules in Special Education and Reading through Brock University in St. Catherines, Ontario. Mrs. Pickering is an exceptional educator with a thorough knowledge of instructional and assessment strategies for all learners, including those from diverse and rich cultural backgrounds. She is passionate about success for all learners and will bring great insight and commitment to making a continued positive difference for the students at Majagaleehl Gali Aks Elementary School. … continued 2015-2016 Leadership Staffing News Page 2 Pat Mouland Currently the Vice Principal at Uplands Elementary School, Ms. Mouland has been appointed Vice Principal at Cassie Hall Elementary School. She holds a Bachelor of Education Degree in Elementary Education with a Special Education minor from the University of Alberta and a Master of Education Degree in Curriculum and Development from the University of British Columbia. A long time and highly respected educator, Ms. Mouland is a master teacher with a keen interest in early learning, literacy and success for all learners. The experience and knowledge that she brings to Cassie Hall will serve the school well in these areas, as will her energy and passion for teaching. Ms. Mouland will be a valuable addition to the leadership and instructional team at Cassie Hall Elementary School. Cindy Sousa Currently the Principal at North Coast Distance Education School, Ms. Sousa will assume the position of Vice Principal at the Northwest Regional Trades & Employment Training Centre that will be entering into its first year of operation commencing August 2015. She holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Education Degree with a focus in Counselling from the University of Northern British Columbia. Ms. Sousa is a team player and a strong advocate for success of all learners. Her energy, enthusiasm and strong commitment to students enrolled in distributed learning and trades training is a perfect fit for the Northwest Regional Trades & Employment Training Centre team. Steve Wallace Currently Vice Principal at Cassie Hall Elementary School, Mr. Wallace is assuming the role of Principal at Cassie Hall Elementary School. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Environmental Geography from Nipissing University and a Bachelor of Education Degree from Lakehead University with Primary, Intermediate and Junior levels of specialization. He is currently working towards his Master of Education Degree from the Vancouver Island University. Mr. Wallace has demonstrated exemplary leadership in serving as Cassie Hall Elementary School Vice Principal during the past two school years.
