About Marin Clean Energy:
Located in San Rafael, Marin Clean Energy (MCE) is a Community Choice Aggregation program that provides 50-100%
renewable energy to Marin communities and the City of Richmond as an alternative to PG&E’s electric supply. Although
PG&E still manages the transmission and distribution of the energy, MCE determines the source and cost of the energy.
MCE also administers over $4 million of ratepayer funded energy efficiency programs, focusing on innovative and hard
to reach program design. MCE is a public, not-for-profit joint powers authority. Members of the agency include the
County of Marin and the cities and towns of Novato, San Rafael, San Anselmo, Fairfax, Corte Madera, Larkspur, Ross, Mill
Valley, Tiburon, Belvedere, Sausalito and Richmond.
About the position:
MCE seeks a motivated individual to support implementation of our energy efficiency programs, from design and
implementation to evaluation. Under supervision of the Director of Energy Efficiency, the Energy Efficiency Program
Specialist supports the development, implementation and coordination of multiple energy efficiency activities and
interfaces with the public on behalf of the energy efficiency program for Marin Clean Energy. The Energy Efficiency
Specialist will support the Director of Energy Efficiency and will work alongside other program staff in implementation
of energy efficiency programs tailored to residential, commercial and single family customers. The Energy Efficiency
Program Specialist may interface with other partner agencies and stakeholder groups, coordinate activities of subcontractors, and interact with a wide range of customers groups, and other related tasks as assigned.
The position requires knowledge of energy efficiency technologies, data collection and management, basic
understanding of the construction trade and green building techniques, and integrated demand side management. It
requires the ability to use metrics to validate energy efficiency impacts. Technical experience with California ratepayer
funded energy efficiency programs is preferred, and experience with Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI)
technology and/or electric vehicle infrastructure is desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
•
Assist Staff, Technical Team and MCE Board with implementation of MCE’s Energy Efficiency Program.
•
Monitor program progress in assigned area(s) relative to goals and make recommendations for
improved program delivery.
•
Identify opportunities for community outreach and assist in tabling and making presentations to the
public on behalf of MCE’s energy efficiency program
•
Field calls from the public to answer project specific questions and / or refer to the MCE energy
efficiency program
•
Build relationships with key partner agencies to leverage the resource conservation activities from
MCE’s energy efficiency program
•
Perform data analysis, training and outreach, to customers, building owners and managers, and other
stakeholder groups as needed to implement program.

Provide analytical support to the MCE regulatory team on energy efficiency matters
•
Assist in data collection and organization to track impact of energy efficiency programs for reporting to the
MCE Board and regulatory bodies.
Utilize a variety of computer software programs to prepare reports, maps, diagrams, graphs and other
material related to energy resources.
Minimum Qualifications:
Any combination of education and experience that would provide the knowledge and skills required to perform the
duties of the position. Typically, a Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, environmental science, planning, or a closely
related field, and two (2) years of progressively responsible experience at an electric utility, local government agency
or private company providing energy efficiency services. Technical experience with California ratepayer funded energy
efficiency programs is preferred and Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) technology and/or electric vehicle
infrastructure is desirable. A Master’s degree in a related field is also desirable.

This is a non-exempt full-time position. The salary range is $54,632 - $71,596 with exact compensation to be determined
by the Chief Executive Officer. Benefits include paid vacation, sick, personal and parental leave; employer paid medical,
