Physical Education is required for both freshman and sophomore year; it is non-accredited, and students can’t graduate without passing the course. General Civilian Safety Education course meets 2 hours/per week for 0 credits (elective). Students born before 1994 can waive 1 day of military services with every 8 lessons. (One semester for 4 days and two semesters for 9 days, etc.); those born after 1994 can waive 2 days of military services with one semester of course. Students will be allowed to register for the Preparatory Officer Examination after completion of 4 semesters of General Civilian Safety Education course before graduation. General Education is a 28-credit course, including 8 credits of language courses (Chinese: 4, English: 4, and English listening and speaking course: 2), 12 credits of field optional courses (Humanity and Art: 4, Social Science: 4, and Natural/Life Science: 4), and 8 credits of core courses (Seminar Course: 2 at most, and Core lecture Course: 6-8). Service Learning is a required, non-accredited course. Students have to complete 48 hours of Service Learning (including 18 hours of specified courses, 12 hours of volunteer training, and 18 hours of voluntary service) before graduating. Students need to pass the swimming examination before graduating. This credit table is used to determine graduation qualification. Annotation from Nutrition Department Aims of education: (1) To cultivate nutrition professionals. (2) To train dietitians -clinical, community, and foodservice dietitians. (3) To nurture talents with food and health nutrition specialties. (4) To integrate basic Chinese medicine into nutrition application. The nutrition program is a four-year course. Minimum credits meet the degree requirement for 2014 admitted students are 131 [required courses (72), general education courses (28), and elective courses (31, at least 6 out of 31 credits have to be taken from the Department of Nutrition)]. Nutrition internship is an elective course. Students have to submit the application form within the first week of the second semester in the junior year. Applicants need approvals from applied institutes to begin the internship program. The credit will be given based on the regulation of the Examination for Dietitian.
