IMPORTANT! Use only the yarn specified for
this item. Other yarns may give unsatisfactory
results. Quantities are approximate as they can
vary between knitters.
1 pair 3.75mm (No 9) Knitting Needles or size
needed to give correct tension. 1 Stitch Holder;
One pair of 5mm wide safety eyes; Washable
filling; Length of Ribbon.
YARN DOUBLE - We suggest using 1 end of yarn
from inside of the ball and 1 end of yarn from outside
of the ball, being careful not to tangle the yarn.
TENSION - 23 sts and 31 rows to 10 cm
over stocking st, using 3.75mm Needles
and yarn double. To work tension square, use
3.75mm Needles and yarn double, cast on 34
sts. Work 46 rows stocking st. Cast off loosely.
Please check your tension carefully. If less sts
use smaller needles, if more sts use bigger
needles.
BODY (make 2, beg at base)
Using 3.75mm Needles and yarn double, cast on 5
sts.
Work 3 rows stocking st, inc at beg of 2nd and 3rd
rows … 7 sts.
4th row - Purl, inc 2 sts in centre.
5th row - Knit.
Rep 4th and 5th rows 7 times … 23 sts.
Work 13 rows stocking st, beg with a purl row.
Dec at beg of each row until 9 sts rem.
Cast off loosely.
RIGHT SIDE OF HEAD (when finished)
Using 3.75mm Needles and yarn double, cast on 10
sts.
Work 2 rows stocking st.
3rd row - Knit to last st, inc in last st … 11 sts.
4th row - Inc purlways in first st, purl to last st, inc
purlways in last st … 13 sts.
5th row - Knit.
6th row - Cast on 2 sts, purl to end … 15 sts.
7th row - Knit.
8th row - Cast on 2 sts, purl to end … 17 sts.
9th row - Knit to last st, inc in last st … 18 sts.
10th row - Inc purlways in first st, purl to last st, inc
purlways in last st … 20 sts.
11th row - Knit.
12th row - Inc purlways in first st, purl to end … 21

Tie a coloured thread at end of last row.

Using 3.75mm Needles and yarn double, cast on 5
sts.
Work in stocking st, inc at each end of 9th and foll 6th
rows until there are 13 sts.
Work 5 rows stocking st, beg with a purl row.
Dec at each end of next and alt rows until 5 sts
rem.
Work 4 rows stocking st, beg with a purl row.
Dec at each end of next row … 3 sts.
Work 2 rows stocking st. Cast off.
LEGS (make 2)
Using 3.75mm Needles and yarn double, cast on 26
sts.
Work 6 rows stocking st.
DIVIDE FOR INSTEP - Next row - K13, turn.
Cont on these 13 sts.
Dec at beg of next row and foll alt row … 11 sts.
Work 1 row.
Next row - Cast off 5 sts, purl to end … 6 sts.
Next row - Inc in first st, knit to end … 7 sts.
Next row - Purl to last st, inc purlways in last st … 8
sts.
Work 1 row.
Break off yarn, leave sts on end of needle.
With right side facing, join yarn to rem sts and knit to

Dec one st at each end of next 2 rows … 6 sts.

Rep last 2 rows twice … 18 sts.
Work 12 rows stocking st.
Next row - Inc in first st, knit to last st, inc in last st
… 20 sts.
Next row - Purl.
Rep last 2 rows once … 22 sts.
DIVIDE FOR TOP - Next row - K11, turn.
Cont on these 11 sts.
Dec at beg of each row until 6 sts rem.
Cast off.
With right side facing, join yarn to rem sts and knit to
end.
Cont on these 11 sts.
Dec at end of each row until 6 sts rem.
Cast off.
ARMS (make 2)
NOTE - Purl side of knitted pieces is the right side.
Join body pieces tog, leaving an opening at top (neck
edge) and noting that seams sit at centre front and
back. Stitch head pieces to each side of head gusset,
placing cast-on edges at back of head and noting that
gusset finishes at point of coloured threads (nose). Join
seam under nose. Turn right side out. Secure eyes in
position. Fill Head and Body and join together. With right
sides tog, fold arms and stitch seam, leaving an opening.
Turn, fill and close opening. With right sides tog, fold
legs and stitch back and foot seam, leaving an opening
at back. Turn, fill and close opening. Attach Legs and
Arms to body. With right sides tog, join inner and outer
ears, leaving straight (cast on) edge unstitched. Turn,
stitch ears in position, as pictured. To create eye
sockets, take a length of yarn from below eye down
towards base of neck at back of head. Carefully pull
thread until eye sinks into head. Secure with a stitch
and thread ends into head. Using yarn double and
straight stitch work facial features i.e nose and mouth.
Tie ribbon in a bow around neck.
Using 3.75mm Needles and yarn double, cast on 5
sts.
Work 3 rows stocking st, inc at each end of 2nd and
3rd rows … 9 sts.
Next row - Purl to last st, inc purlways in last st …
10 sts.
Next row - Inc in first st, knit to end … 11 sts.
Next row - Purl to last st, inc purlways in last st …
12 sts.
Break off yarn, leave sts on stitch-holder.
Using 3.75mm Needles and yarn double, cast on 5
sts.
Work 3 rows stocking st, inc at each end of 2nd and
3rd rows … 9 sts.
Next row - Inc purlways in first st, purl to end … 10
sts.
Next row - Knit to last st, inc in last st … 11 sts.
Next row - Inc purlways in first st, purl to end … 12
sts.
JOINING ROW - Next row - Knit across these 12 sts,
then knit across 12 sts from stitch-holder … 24 sts.
Purl 1 row.
Next row - K2tog, knit to last 2 sts, K2tog.
Next row - Purl.
INNER EARS (make 2)
Using 3.75mm Needles and yarn double, cast on 8
sts.
Work 4 rows stocking st.
Dec at beg of each row until 4 sts rem.
Cast off.
OUTER EARS (make 2)
Using 3.75mm Needles and yarn double, cast on 10
sts.
Work 5 rows stocking st.
Dec at beg of each row until 5 sts rem.
Cast off.
