MICHIGAN DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION TESTING
GRADES 3-8
The Michigan Department of Education has recently announced the name
of the spring 2015 Michigan Statewide Assessment: M-Step (Michigan Student
Test of Educational Progress). All students in grades 3-8 will participate in this
assessment. The test will be staggered given to different grade levels from April
14th through May 29th. Key information regarding this test and your child's
participation is:
• All components of the test will be given on-line. It is a computer
based test.
• Grades 3-8 will be tested in ELA (reading, writing & listening
comprehension) and Mathematics. Grade 4, 5, 7, 8, will also be tested in
Science and Social Studies respectively.
• Testing will consist of a Computer Test and Performance Tasks that
follow a classroom demonstration and/or brainstorming activity. NOTE: It is
very important students be in attendance for the performance task
testing. It is very difficult to replicate a whole class discussion that test
activities will be based on in a makeup session.
• The test will be administered in the classroom on Chromebooks and/or
one of our Computer Labs.
• 5th & 8th Grades will test on April 13-27.
• 4th &7th Grades will test on April 27-May 7.
• 3rd & 6th Grades will test on May 18-27.
IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT STUDENTS ARE IN ATTENDANCE

Publicly accessible versions of the DRC INSIGHT test engine and
the NeSA Online Tools Training are available. Please copy the link
below into Google Chrome to access these practice opportunities.
Note that Google Chrome is the only supported browser for this
public version of the DRC INSIGHT test engine.

CMS, they have done many different things from Friday
snack cart, book fair to chaperoning at our many dances.
Without volunteers there is so much we would not be
able to do, if you have not helped but want to it is never

News from CMS Choir
MS Choir received an EXCELLENT
rating on Tuesday, March 10th at
Michigan School Vocal Music
Association (MSVMA) competition
in Battle Creek!
The Music Man Jr. was a huge
success! The cast of 3rd-12th graders
did an amazing job with three shows,
March 27, 28, and 29th. An
amazingly talented and hard
working group!
The band and choir classes are finally

Other Upcoming Events & Notes
April 30 at 6:30 pm in the LGI at CHS ~ Middle School Anti–Bully Talent Show
Singing, dancing, poem reading, acting, joke telling, drawing and other talents . Our 2015
Motto is “We Are All In This Together” and we need to band against bullying in CMS.
Talent Show Spirit Week: Week of April 27—Monday: Dough-not bully. Each CMS student will
receive a doughnut to stop bullying. Tuesday: Positive Praise Day. Write something positive
about someone, to be posted on their locker. Wednesday: Suicide Prevention Day. Come down
to the office and buy a yellow carnation, and put it on your locker, in remembrance of someone
who committed suicide. Thursday: Nerd day. Wear something nerdy. Everyone is a nerd in their
own way. Friday: Blue Day. Wear blue, and walk a mile in someone’s shoes. We will be taking a
picture in advisory, to show that CMS bans bullying. There will also be a “sorry box” in the
office, if you have wronged someone, write an apology note to that person, and that note will be
delivered at the end of the day on Friday.

MS PE Classes Roller Skating unit will be the week of May 4th, this is a fun week for the
kids, everyone gets to learn how to roller skate!
OPEN GYM—for Volleyball: Sunday’s 1-3 pm in the HS gym for any girls interested in playing
volleyball.
RED CMS FALCON PRIDE– T-shirts are still available in the office $10, get yours before they
are all gone!
MS Junior Equestrian—Did you know there is a Equestrian Club available to kids from
Constantine? For more information check out our school website: MS/Clubs/Equestrian Team.
There is just one competition for MS kids in the spring, Sunday, May 17 in Coldwater at the fair
grounds.
Constantine Band Flower Sales—Order sheets are out and about, if you don’t know a band
student to order flowers from contact the office & we can help you place a order.
Best of luck to the 6th grade Clue Me In Team— Soraya Schwartz, Grace Hofmeister, Morgan
Dull, Billy Clewell, Emma Stoppenbach and alternate TJ McNamara. They will compete on April
28th.
6th Grade Field Trip—The team of 6th grade teachers are diligently working to plan an
awesome field trip for May. Please check the Middle School’s Facebook page and website as
information will be added periodically.
Sportsmanship Awards— Congratulations go out to the Constantine Football program & the
Constantine Boys Basketball program for winning the KVA League Sportsmanship Award.
These awards were made possible due to good sportsmanship from the players, coaches &
fans, Good Job Everyone! GOOD SPORTS ARE WINNERS!
