Passap Gloves Passap Model Book no. 26 This was simplified by Libby Poppleton for Passap Knitters. Suggested yarn: fine mohair/acrylic/3 ply wool Suggested stitch sizes: 1X1 rib= st 3 ¾, stocking stitch = 5 ¼ Cast on with 56 needles in 1X1 rib, knit 30 rows. Transfer sts for circular knitting = CX/CX (28sts on FB and 28sts on BB – transfer using Decker Combs) Knit CX/CX and at right increase 8 sts for thumb as follows: Knit 6 rows, then on BB and FB move 1 stitch 1 needle out, place the loop (heel) of purlst of main knitting on to empty needles. After every 6 rows move one more st out, i.e. move the two sts you have added – out,fill in st on empty needle, then three and then four etc until row 54. THUMB: (E6000 ↔ on FB you have to move pushers manually for all fingers) Move 8 sts on right side BB & FB, 1 needle out,place purl loop on empty needles = 9sts. Put 9 pushers in REST position on FB and 9 pushers in WORKING position on BB – lock in BX <-> ( both arrows) BB and BX<-> FB. Knit 44 rows. Decrease 1 st at edges (4sts) knit 2 rows – continue until about 3 sts left, pull thread through to finish. CX/CX knit 32 rows. On left – LITTLE FINGER – move 6 sts out BB & FB continue, as for thumb but = 7 sts (44rows BX <->/ BX <->) CX/CX knit 6 rows. On right – INDEX FINGER – move 7 sts (add one to empty needle) out BB & FB cont as for thumb and little finger but (56 rows). On right – MIDDLE FINGER – move 7 + 1 out etc (64 rows) Remaining 8 sts – RING FINGER – CX/CX (56 rows) { waste yarn may be used for fingers and thumb instead of leaving on machine and same number of sts (as above) returned to needles each time,CX/CX instead of BX<->/ BX<->. NOTE: After row 54 before starting thumb knit 2 rows of waste yarn which are unraveled before knitting each digit} Join wrist and sew up loose ends. Press lightly.
