“Welcome
to a brand new season packed full of entertainment at the
Corn Exchange & New Greenham Arts
As the weather turns and the nights draw in, we’re gearing up for our busiest time of year, at the Corn
Exchange. During December, we’ll be welcoming more than 20,000 of you through our doors for the
highlight of the year, our annual pantomime Aladdin! With all the magic, music and mayhem you’ve come
to expect of a Corn Exchange panto, make sure to book your tickets soon as they are flying out the door.
As we greet the New Year, we have plenty of shows to help you beat those January blues. Whether it’s a
night out with friends at our monthly Jongleurs comedy club, gripping and compulsive drama Grounded,
an evening of conversation with the legendary Dame Joan Plowright, BBC folk awards singer of the year
Bella Hardy, the ever effervescent Fascinating Aida, a sensational shock night with Britain’s Got Talent
finalists Circus of Horrors or an extraordinary collaboration between 2Faced Dance and Frantic Assembly,
Dreaming in Code. There’s guaranteed to be something in our live season that will help lift your spirits!
And I am delighted to be able to announce that the Corn Exchange will become one of Arts Council
England’s National Portfolio Organisations from April 2015. It really is fantastic to have the quality of the
work we do recognised in this way, and it’s a huge accolade for the entire Corn Exchange team who have
helped to achieve this success. Over the next three years, this funding will be focused on expanding our
Get Involved activities, developing our outdoor performance programme (events like our annual community
lantern procession on Sunday 14th December) and launching 101 - a unique outdoor arts creation space
based at Greenham Common.
“
Make sure you come and visit us soon.

Tongue in cheek at its best!
One of British folk's rising stars
Have you seen the others baby? A
question The Rolling Stones have
frequently been asked by journalists
keen to know what they think about The
Counterfeit Stones.
Maz O'Connor is a gifted singer with
a rare talent for fusing traditional and
contemporary folk sounds. Performing a
mixture of traditional folk songs and her
own thoughtful, poetic compositions, Maz
accompanies her uniquely pure voice with
guitar, piano, shruti box and harmonium.
Sir Mick Jagger actually referred to them
as "the most famous Stones band in
England". Any band that can boast 24
years of solid and successful touring
deserves such an accolade.
Each show takes you on a hilarious trip
through 5 decades of outrageous fashion
and fantastic hit songs. With colourful
costumes, sourced and made from top
movie wardrobe departments and perfectly
recreated sounds, faithfully matching the
original records, “Grass Me Up”, promises
to be the ultimate live "mockumentary" of
one of England’s greatest music legends.

In 2013, she was nominated for the BBC
Folk Awards Horizon Award and selected
for a creative fellowship with the English

PRESENTED BY OXFORD PLAYHOUSE AND
CHRIS GOODE & COMPANY
Tuesday 14 April | 7.45pm | Corn Exchange
Real life stories of courage and conscience of
people who stood up for something, or someone,
they believed in
Was it a split second decision or a cause that’s haunted
you? An act of bravery or something ‘anybody would do’?
Was it forgotten as quickly as it happened or do you think
about it years later? Who did you stand up for and what
made you do it?
STAND relays the tales of people who have chosen to act
for their cause. Six actors tell of moments of bravery from
everyday life, where ordinary people did what others didn’t
or wouldn’t do.
Told verbatim, STAND follows Chris Goode’s previous
productions Monkey Bars, Longwave and 9 as a moving,
uplifting celebration of the power of humans to change

ARTIST JETHRO GERMAN
28 January – 9 April 2015 | New Greenham Arts Gallery
HD DVD, a solo show from artist Jethro German, is the culmination of a 21-month
graduate residency programme at New Greenham Arts.
Jethro German’s work takes inspiration from a wide variety of sources, including televised
sport, film tropes and news stories. In isolating particular aspects of these forms, German
seeks to deconstruct and parody the framework by which we consume and process
information, exposing the absurdities that pervade popular culture and the mass media.
German regularly uses found imagery in his art, working with a wide variety of media
including video, sculpture and print.
