Calling all youth choirs Join the Cornmill chorus 2015 and Whether you’re an established youth choir or are newly formed, anyone aged 18 and under is welcome to enter Cornmill’s Chorus. All you need is a minimum of four people and be able to hold a tune! It’s easy to enter, just send in a recording and complete the details below, the judges at the Cornmill Shopping Centre will then select 12 choirs to perform on one of the three Thursday late nights on 26 November, 03 December and 10 December. The choir that receives the most votes at each heat will go on to perform in front of a panel of judges at the final on Thursday 17 December 2015. By entering the competition, all entrants will be deemed to have accepted these Terms, so please read carefully. •The competition is open to residents of the UK but excludes employees and contractors, agents and service providers of Cornmill Shopping Centre. •Children’s groups or school groups must be represented by at least one adult aged 18 or over and said person must have proof of parent/carer consent that the child/children can enter the competition. •Choir members (other than lead/ conductor) must be aged 18 or under to participate. •Choirs must have a minimum of four members. •Choir numbers cannot exceed 40. •To enter the competition the entry must be on an official entry form. •Competition entries should be received by no later than 5pm on Friday 09 October 2015 via the entry mechanics outlined. •The information provided on the entry form will be used to contact you for the purpose of the competition and we will add you to our database to receive information from the Cornmill Shopping Centre from time to time. Your details will not be passed to a third party. You have an option to opt out above. •All entered choirs should be available to perform on the evenings of Thursday 26 November, 03 December and 10 December and at the final on Thursday 17 December from 6pm. •Twelve choirs will be shortlisted by the Cornmill Shopping Centre from the initial entries to take part in the heats on the evenings of Thursday 26 November, Thursday 03 December and Thursday 10 December from 6pm. •The decision of the shortlisted choirs by the Cornmill Shopping Centre is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into. •Shortlisted choirs will be notified by 5pm on Friday 16 October 2015. Choirs who haven’t been shortlisted won’t be directly notified. •Four of the twelve shortlisted choirs will be selected at random to perform at each of the three heats where they will compete against that evening’s entrants to secure a place in the final. •At each heat the four choirs will perform their first piece from 6pm which should be a carol or Christmas song, followed by their second song which should be a contrasting piece of their choice. •Winners from each heat will be notified by 12 noon the Monday following their heat. •Choirs may sing to a pre-recorded accompaniment, however that accompaniment must be purely instrumental and not contain any vocals. •Choirs must provide their own accompanying music. •Any accompanying instruments must be portable and must be transported into centre and set up by the choir concerned •The winner from each heat will be decided by the highest number of votes cast by members of the public voting via the voting cards in centre at each heat combined with the number of ‘Likes’ gained for a video edit of their performance posted to the Cornmill’s Facebook page. •The shortlisted choirs and/or members may be required to take part in some promotional activity as a condition of receiving the prize e.g. publicity photos. If you are required to take part in such promotional activity, you agree that we may (but are not obliged) to use your images and/or any footage in which you appear in our promotional campaigns which may include social media (content and advertising), press, magazine and broadcast advertising, direct mail, outdoor advertising, transport advertising, in-centre advertising e.g. posters, floor graphics, leaflets and our website. There is no cash payment for appearing in any such materials used by us. •The winner from each of the three heats will then choose one of their two songs to perform at the Grand Final on Thursday 17 December which will commence at 6pm. The winner will be chosen by a panel of judges following all four performances. •The decision by the judging panel on selecting the winning choir is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into. •We reserve the right to amend or cancel this competition at any time on reasonable notice, including the closing date for the competition or to cancel or refuse an entry if they are in breach of these Terms. •The Cornmill Shopping Centre is excluded from any loss, damage, cost and expense you may incur, whether direct or indirect and however caused, in connection with this competition. •No purchase necessary. •The cash prize is non-transferable.
