The Town of Cornwall is very excited to present an all new line up of camps for 2015. Families are encouraged to browse through the various camps and decide what best suits the need of your children. All our camps are designed to get out and play, make lasting memories and enjoy summer break. We are offering a wide variety, with great flexibility and exceptional value. Hope to see all of you at one of our great camps. General Information/ Day Camp Policies All our camps run from June 29 – September 4, 2015. Day Camp operates Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. All Day Camps will be closed on Canada Day (July 1) and Gold Cup & Saucer Day (Aug 21). The staff/camper ratios are: 3-5yrs. 1:10, 5-7 yrs.1:12, 8-11yrs 1:15 and 12-15 yrs. 1:15, Volunteers are added to improve ratios. • Before and After Care is available from 7:00-8:00 a.m. and 4:30-5:30 p.m.* You must register in advance • Children must be 3 years of age before September 1, 2015 for the 3-5 years camp. • Nut Free / peanut-free lunch and snacks are to be sent daily with your child How to Register If you would like to register your child - don’t wait! The Town will start accepting registrations on Monday April 13, 2015 at 8:30am In Person… Visit the Town Hall between Monday – Friday from 8am – 4:00pm. You must complete the registration information at that time. Over the Phone... If your child currently attends our day camp programs please contact us to let us know that your child will be attending. You must complete a new pre authorization form. At the Come TRY Event... Bring your child out to the come try event being held on Saturday April 25 from 1pm – 4pm at the Terry Fox Sports Complex. This will give your child a chance to meet some of the councillors and learn more about the camps. Payment Information Camper fees can be paid in full or by pre authorized payments. Your child is not officially registered until the pre authorization form is completed. The camp payments will be spread out for the duration of the summer, with the first payment being processed on June 29th for a two week period. Subsidized Participants In order to secure your spot at camp, you are required to provide a VOID cheque for pre-authorized debit, or complete the credit card section at the time of registration. The Town must receive written verification from the Province of PEI. NSF Payments/ Declined Credit Card A $20.00 service charge will be applied to all NSF pre-authorized debits and declined credit cards. Failure to make full payment by the end of that week will result in your child not being permitted to attend the following week. Summer Camp Guide Information Continued... Qualified Staff Camp staff are carefully selected based on their former experiences working with children, along with their display of enthusiasm, strong leadership skills and sound judgment. Our staff have been certified in HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development. This National program strives to ensure that staff has the knowledge and tools necessary to offer the best program for your child. Training includes creative program design to ensure safe, diverse, unique, and age appropriate programming. Our staff is also trained in First Aid and CPR, positive child management techniques, parent communication, and of course how to have lots of FUN! Extended Camp Care We understand the demands of working families; therefore, we are offering our extended care program. This offers options for both before & after the regular camp program. It is available for all our camp programs, but you must register for this program at the time of registration. AM or PM CARE AM Care: $10.00 / WEEK PM Care: $10.00 / WEEK Lunch Program Do you get bored of packing lunches, or does your child bore of the same old lunches? This year the Town will be implementing a lunch program option. The cost of the program will be $ 25.00 / week and will have designated pizza and subway days. The other days will feature children’s favorites. This camp has a low-key, non-competitive yet structured atmosphere geared to the needs, interests, and skills of the young child. The campers will develop new friendships, discover and strengthen physical capabilities, explore the environment, and learn cooperation and teamwork. Weekly activities will include games, arts and crafts, nature, and science activities, creative movement and music, story time, swim time and of course field trips. A low counselor-child ratio is maintained to personalize the activities, to ensure safety, and to encourage a sense of well-being so they can grow into a healthy and happy camper while having a lot of FUN! Camp Information Ages 7 - 12 I f your child is the, “Outdoorsy” type, just loves the summer fresh air, and wants to try something new which they have never experienced before, get outside and participate in this new Summer Camp in Cornwall! The goal of the program is to emphasize an active and healthy lifestyle where we connect youth to the outdoors, with outdoor recreation and sport experiences. This camp will expose the outdoors and nature by enhancing their knowledge and introduce them to what they can do and how they can utilize the outdoors to its full capacity. It is also targeted towards getting comfortable with outdoor environments, team building, leadership, and developing relationships with nature and with others. With this new camp, participants will be utilizing the Terry Fox Complex to its full capacity, and other outdoor areas around Cornwall as well. Do they want to learn some new skills but yet incorporate some fun activity? This all-encompassing leadership program provides a unique combination of on-site leadership development and some fun outdoor excursions. Brand new this year, the Town of Cornwall Jr Leadership Adventure Camp will start youth on the journey to becoming successful leaders. The program will have youth take part in leadership and co-operative games daily. They will learn to lead by example and how to motivate others. They will practise their skills by leading games and activities to other campers. This program will be a great way to build leadership skills for the future! Participants are encouraged to try new experiences in order to gain self-confidence, learn cooperation, communication, as well as increase personal independence in a safe and fun environment.
