 The Treasurer’s Report indicated that at the end of the first 1/4 of 2015, CPC has experienced
a small increase in income over the same period in 2014.
 Session voted to approve a Letter of Transfer to DeLand Presbyterian Church for Robert
Morrison and to Eatonton United Methodist Church of Eatonton, GA for Doug Romine, and to Receive
Letters of Transfer from DeLand Presbyterian Church for Dyson, Dawn, Casey, Pearce, Ellina, Emma and
Jude Billings.
 Session voted to install Lorraine Miklos, Harry Wild and Elaine Hedges as Elders at the 9:00 Service on
April 19th..
 Roy Bertolet and Michael Abate were designated to serve as Session members of the Nominating Team
for the upcoming year.

 Session voted to develop language to consider at the April stated meeting which would be included in the

There's a Mouse in our House!
Yippee, Berneé is back!
It sure is good to be back, I think, if you like constantly scampering for your life!
So let’s see who’s in the game of dodging me today, or is it the other way
around? The office is usually a great place to rest, I thought. Where did that new lady,
Cheryl Solt, come from? She is just too cute, or did I mean too quick?
She moves her feet so quickly when she answers the phone making me
run for cover every time the phone rings. She is sure one of those
energetic ones! I need to clear out of here.
Let’s move outside awhile. Wrong move! There’s that Jay Pitts working
on the sanctuary doors. Got to stay out of his way. He sure is making those doors at
every entrance look awfully shiny. Thanks for making my place of residence look so neat, Sir.
Also, thanks to that person who has been keeping the Sanctuary so
clean. Lady (Paula Warnicke), would you stay off my tail. I love your
cleaning abilities but my life comes first. Please watch where you step!
I scampered back into the building before that wonderful sexton
trampled me, and I tried to check out the Sunday school rooms.
Surely I can get some rest there. Why did Kacie Fuller and Pam Sweet
suddenly have to show up? Well, it appears they are
also sprucing up the walls, furniture, etc. so the
Sunday classes will be much more attractive or
attracting. One or the other I’m sure will fit the bill.
Finally, I’m hungry; let’s see what’s happening in the
kitchen. I’m going to rest and go
there Wednesday evening when
food is in abundance.
Well, here I am. It’s Wednesday
and I’m in the kitchen during
dinner. Golly, a couple of new
cooks are present. Diana Simmons, Pam Kelly, Barb
Walters, and a few others are there taking charge.
Thank goodness for these
folks,
otherwise I would go hungry.
Thanks to all those people who keep the church
and church grounds so clean for me, and also, to
those wonderful cooks who drop a little on the
floor just for me. You guys are the
best! (And, you are really good
cooks!)

Edd Gordon
Born in Orlando, Florida, Edd Gordon moved to Ormond Beach at the age of nine, attended
CPC as a youth, and rang handbells here. He has also lived in New York and Louisiana, where
most of his family currently resides. He is the son of Tony and Brenda Martinez and has three
siblings – his twin Katie, age 26, living in Burbank, California; Brendan, age 19, a student
at LSU; and Jared, age 17, a senior in high school. A graduate of Seabreeze High School,
Edd has held several jobs since his high school days. He formerly toured with a company
called Access Broadway as their stage manager, and also served as the technical director for First
Presbyterian Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
He is currently employed as the master electrician for the theatre department of Daytona State College, as
well as being invaluable to CPC as our tech team coordinator. A member of Christ Presbyterian
Church since 2000, Edd feels his mission in life is to help present God’s Word in
an unobtrusive way, adding that if others don’t know that he’s there, then he
has done his job. He enjoys playing with his dog, hanging out,
and drinking Dr. Pepper. He points to his dad as the person he
most admires, and would someday like to travel to Ireland.
When asked what he would most like to be remembered for,
he stated “No audio feedback!” Those of us at CPC feel like you are well on

Mike, Cheryl, and Lillie Ogle recently joined CPC and state that it is the first
time they have attended a Presbyterian church. Before coming to the
central Florida area, the Ogles lived in Texas, Arizona, South
Carolina, and Washington, D.C. Mike and Cheryl grew up in
families having only one sibling each. They have three children. Zach, age 23, will graduate
from college this spring. AJ, 18, is currently involved in a gap year in Estonia. When he returns,
he will be a student at Embry Riddle University this fall. Lillie, an active member of our 412
youth program, is a junior at Flagler-Palm Coast High School and is an accomplished artist
and violinist.
Mike and Cheryl both graduated from the University of Central Florida – Cheryl with a
bachelor’s degree in nursing and Mike with a bachelor’s degree in physics. Mike went on to
receive a master’s degree in Human Resources. While Cheryl is not currently employed
outside the home, Mike works as an independent consulting contractor with high risk
industries, especially mining. He also served 28 years in the Air Force as an F-16 pilot. Mike
and Cheryl greatly enjoy traveling and have visited Europe, the Caribbean, and Hawaii.
Someday they would like to return to Italy, and visit Australia and Greece, as well. Cheryl
enjoys writing for children and has some manuscripts that she hopes to have published
someday. Mike is an avid thrill seeker who enjoys scuba diving, snow skiing, and sky
diving. We are so happy to have Mike, Cheryl and Lillie as part of our CPC family!

Our Annual “Health and Healing” Luncheon will
be on a Wednesday this year, Tax Day, April 15th.
All of you will already have your taxes done then, of
course. As in previous years, it will be a free meal at
noon at the Palmetto Club, 1000 S. Beach St. in
Daytona. As before, it will be only an hour, and there
will be an invitation to support the ministry. But as
those who have attended before will recall, there is
no pressure. We want you to know about what we
do. If you feel led to help, thanks be to God. If God leads you to
support other ministries instead, thanks be to God.
This is the one ministry jointly supported since its beginning 29
years ago by all the Presbyterian Churches. Come and learn.

busy spring season. As we aspire to
support Kacie’s intergenerational
focus with our youth, we are providing
snacks for the youth each
Wednesday from now until school is
out. A separate fund has been
designated to support youth with
Wednesday evening meals or in other
ways the funds may be needed.

after the unity
service. Donations of any type of baked
goods…cakes, pies, breads, brownies,
cookies…are always welcome and
greatly appreciated!
Looking ahead…our PW Spring Luncheon
will be held on Sunday, April 19, 2015,
with a theme of April showers bring May
flowers. We will be “showering” our CPC
kitchen with some badly needed items. A
wish list will be provided at the time of
sign-up. Tickets will be sold on Sunday,
March 29, and Sunday, April 12, for
$10 each. Lunch will be catered by
Mango Sun and will include an
assortment of wraps (roast beef, club,
chicken salad, BLT, and tuna), salads and fruit. Our own Stacy
Chandler will be our featured speaker! Please come learn more
about her faith journey and the many ways her experiences bring
such a blessing to our church family. Your presence and support
are very important…it won’t be the same without you! Please

my God for you. I never knew
that a church so large as this
could be so warm and caring until I came
to work there ten years ago. Your
evangelistic ministries and fellowship
groups attracted me from the start. Your prayer
ministry and member outreach are to be admired,
ministries often lacking in churches. I can testify
firsthand that you have a hardworking staff who truly
love what they do and love all of you. I was so blessed
to be a part of them and continue to pray for them.

My world turned upside down, this time a year ago. I can't thank
you enough for the prayers and support you have given me
during this challenging time. Shortly after the premature birth of
my grandson, my son lost his job and my father was
hospitalized. My mother had Alzheimer's and couldn't be left
alone. She passed away recently, but I was by her side every
day, thanks to all of you. God knows how many times I had given
up, but your prayers kept sustaining me. I continue caring for my
father while still missing my home, my friends, and CPC.
I long for the day when I can return to Ormond. In the meantime, I
remain very grateful for your love and support that have enabled me
to take care of my parents. I will forever hold you in my heart and in
my prayers. You are an amazing church!

The Library Team wants you to be aware of the library cart located in
the hall just before Fellowship Hall. Currently there are some really
interesting Lenten/Easter books which will be replaced in May and June
with books on parenting, caring, and caregiving for parents, focusing on
these because of Mother’s Day and Father’s Day falling in those months.
On the other side of the cart are contemporary issues such as
understanding Islam and Evolution vs. Creationism. Take a peek at them!
In the Library itself is much more, including a huge reference section,
useful for teachers as well as enrichment of sermon
topics. Our Library is for your use and enjoyment!
