with Jaguar makes its
London debut at Harrods
Wallpaper* Handmade, the must-see exhibition during Milan’s Salone del Mobile,
has made its London debut at Harrods. A spectacular ‘best of ’ presentation,
accompanied by five unique new pieces produced in collaboration with Jaguar,
is now on display across 12 windows of the iconic Knightsbridge store.
Handmade is a groundbreaking celebration of contemporary design and craft.
Since 2010, Wallpaper* has acted as curator, client and creative director, bringing
together the world’s best designers, artists, makers and manufacturers to create
hundreds of one-off design wonders.
Over 80 of the Wallpaper* Handmade pieces, produced by the likes
of Konstantin Grcic, Brioni, Alfredo Häberli, Sou Fujimoto, Hermès,
Mary Katrantzou, Zaha Hadid Architects, Harry Winston, Isay Weinfeld,
Paul Cocksedge, Michael Anastassiades, the late David Collins, BarberOsgerby,
Naoto Fukasawa, Louis Vuitton, Sam Hecht and Poltrona Frau, to name a few,
will be on display at Harrods until 22 October. They will be joined by five new
concept products – by Moritz Waldemeyer, Neri & Hu, Mathieu Gustafsson,
Fredrikson Stallard and Salvatori & Jaguar Advanced Design – which explore
Jaguar’s design language and advanced technology.
Mark Briggs, Harrods’ Store Image Director: ‘As world leaders in style,
design and technology, we are delighted to be working with Wallpaper* and
Jaguar to bring the Handmade exhibition from Milan to London for the first
time. The world-renowned Harrods windows will present the unique designs
in the perfect luxury space, for all to see.’
Julian Thomson, Jaguar Advanced Design Director: ‘This partnership with
Wallpaper* is very exciting; it is a great opportunity to apply Jaguar design
philosophy in new forms and to inspire a culturally diverse audience.’
Tony Chambers, Wallpaper* Editor-in-Chief: ‘Our Handmade project is
testimony to the power of good design, great ideas, creative collaboration and
quality production. We are delighted to bring some of the best pieces from
our annual celebration of art, craft, skill and vision to London – with the best
British partners one could wish for: Harrods and Jaguar.’
