New Britain Area Service Changes Effective: Saturday, March 28, 2015 For detailed information about all changes, please refer to the updated timetable for your route. Updated timetables for all routes will be available the week of March 16. ALL NEW BRITAIN & BRISTOL ROUTES In conjunction with the grand opening of CTfastrak, the hours of service on all CTtransit bus routes serving New Britain and Bristol are being extended. Service will now operate: Weekdays and Saturdays from 6:00AM to Midnight Sundays and Holidays from 8:00AM to 8:00PM Unless otherwise noted, all routes will operate hourly from 6:00AM to 8:00PM and every 90 minutes from 8:00PM to Midnight. DOWNTOWN BUS STOPS Buses will now depart from the following locations on Bank Street: North Side: Routes 501, 502, 503 & 512 South Side: Routes 41, 505, 506, 507, 509 & 510 41 – Hartford/New Britain via Newington Center Route 41 will now operate locally (pick up and drop off in both directions) in Hartford. Service between Hartford & New Britain via I-84 is being discontinued and will be replaced by the new CTfastrak Route 101 – Hartford/New Britain, which will operate every 7-8 minutes during peak hours, every 12 minutes on weekdays during midday and Saturdays, and every 20 minutes at night and on Sundays. Route 41 will operate every 20 minutes during peak hours, every 30 minutes on weekdays during midday and Saturdays, and every hour at night and on Sundays. 501 – Arch Street All trips on Route 501 will now serve CTfastrak Downtown New Britain Station before or after serving Bank Street. Route 501 departs from Bay N at the station. The part-time bus stop at the Slade School is being discontinued. Most trips on Route 501 continue to or from the 505 – Burritt Street route; customers will no longer need to change buses at Bank Street. 502 – Black Rock Avenue All trips will now travel the full route to Bristol City Hall. The 502X – Bristol Express is being discontinued and will be replaced by the new CTfastrak Route 102 – Hartford/New Britain/Bristol, which will operate every 20 minutes during peak hours, every 30 minutes on weekdays during midday and Saturdays, and every hour at night and on Sundays. Route 502 will operate as a separate route at all times and will no longer operate in combination with the 503 – Corbin Avenue route on Saturdays. Some weekday trips on Route 502 continue to or from the new 542 – Bristol Hospital route (see below). Route 502 will operate every hour during peak hours, and every 90 minutes during midday, at night and on Saturdays & Sundays. 503 – Corbin Avenue All trips will now travel the full route to Tunxis Community College. All trips will now serve Grove Hill Medical Center on Lake Street in both directions. Although Route 503 will no longer serve Plainville Center, customers may connect with Routes 102 or 502 in downtown New Britain or at East Main & Farmington in Plainville (Walgreens) to travel to or from Plainville Center. Route 503 will now operate two-way service on Farmington Avenue in Plainville. As a result, buses will no longer serve Cooke Street. Route 503 will operate as a separate route at all times and will no longer operate in combination with the 502 – Black Rock Avenue route on Saturdays. Most trips on Route 503 continue to or from downtown Bristol via the 541 – Bristol Local route; customers will no longer need to change buses at Tunxis Community College. 505 – Burritt Street All trips on Route 505 will now serve CTfastrak Downtown New Britain Station before or after serving Bank Street. Route 505 departs from Bay M at the station. All trips will now travel the full route to Pinnacle Business Park via the Hospital for Special Care and Malikowski Circle. Route 505 will operate as a separate route at all times and will no longer operate in combination with the 506 – Farmington Avenue route at night and on Saturdays. Most trips on Route 505 continue to or from the 501 – Arch Street route; customers will no longer need to change buses at Bank Street. 506 – Farmington Avenue All trips will now travel the full route to UConn Health, with stops at John Dempsey Hospital’s main entrance and the new Outpatient Pavilion. Full-time service to the Batterson Park Park & Ride and part-time service to Farm Springs Road will be maintained. Route 506 will operate as a separate route at all times and will no longer operate in combination with the 505 – Burritt Street route at night and on Saturdays. 507 – Oak Street All trips on Route 507 will now operate between downtown New Britain and Country Club Road via Eddy Glover Boulevard and CCSU. Although Route 507 will no longer serve Westfarms Mall, customers may connect with Route 128 in downtown New Britain or with Routes 128 or 144 at CCSU to travel to or from the mall. Route 507 will operate as a separate route at all times and will no longer operate in combination with the 508 – Stanley Street route at night. 508 – Stanley Street Route 508 is being discontinued. However, all customers who currently ride Route 508 will be accommodated by other routes: Customers traveling to Stanley Street, CCSU or Westfarms Mall will be accommodated by the new CTfastrak Route 128 – Hartford/Westfarms/New Britain via Stanley Street. Route 128 operates every 20 minutes during peak hours, every 30 minutes on weekdays during midday and Saturdays, and every hour at night and on Sundays. Although the new Route 128 will not serve Country Club Road, customers will be accommodated by the 507 – Oak Street route. Route 507 provides a one-seat ride to CCSU and downtown New Britain; customers traveling to Westfarms will be able to connect with the new Route 128 or the new Route 144 – Wethersfield/Westfarms via Newington Center at CCSU. Although the new Route 128 will not serve Brittany Farms Road, customers will be accommodated by the new Route 144. Route 144 provides a one-seat ride to Westfarms Mall, CCSU, CTfastrak Cedar Street Station, Newington Center and Jordan Lane in Wethersfield; customers traveling to downtown New Britain will be able to connect with the new Route 128 at Westfarms or CCSU. 509 – East Street Part-time service to Smalley Street is being discontinued. Buses will also operate via Belden Street instead of Goodwin & Pleasant Streets. Route 509 will operate every 30 minutes during peak hours, and every hour during midday, at night and on Saturdays & Sundays. 510 – South Street All trips on Route 510 will now serve the CTDSS office on Christian Lane. Part-time service to Corbin-Russwin (one trip on weekday mornings and one trip on weekday afternoons) will be maintained. Part-time service to John Downey Drive is being expanded (three trips on weekday mornings and three trips on weekday afternoons). Service to Roosevelt Street, Edgewood Avenue & Fulton Street, and to East & Ellis Streets is being discontinued. Part-time service to Pike & Halsey, and to Pearl Street is also being discontinued. Route 510 will operate every 30 minutes during peak hours, and every hour during midday, at night and on Saturdays & Sundays. 512 – South Main Street-Berlin Turnpike Most trips on Route 512 will now serve the Cromwell Walmart in addition to the Berlin Turnpike. Part-time service to Norpaco Foods (one trip on weekday mornings and one trip on weekday afternoons) will be maintained. Buses will no longer stop inside the Stop & Shop Plaza in Kensington. Route 512 will operate every hour during peak hours, and every 90 minutes during midday, at night and on Saturdays & Sundays. 541 – Bristol Local 542 – Bristol Hospital 543 – Gaylord Towers Route 541 is being divided into three routes in order to better serve Bristol riders: Route 541 will operate between Bristol City Hall and Tunxis Community College. Buses will continue to serve Birchwood Manor or the Senior Center on alternating trips. However, service to Birchwood Manor and the Senior Center will now be provided in both directions. Most trips on Route 541 continue to or from downtown New Britain via the 503 – Corbin Avenue route; customers will no longer need to change buses at Tunxis Community College. Route 542 will operate between Bristol City Hall and Bristol Hospital every hour seven days a week. Most trips on Route 542 continue to or from New Britain and Hartford via the new CTfastrak Route 102, some weekday peak trips also continue to or from downtown New Britain via the 502 – Black Rock Avenue route. Route 543 will operate between Bristol City Hall and Gaylord Towers and is being extended south on North Main and West Streets to serve School Street. Most trips on Route 543 continue to or from Route 541 will no need to change buses at Bristol City Hall.
