Bargaining Support Committee Update Picket Captain Training

April 27, 2015
Hello Brothers and Sisters,
I met with Sandra Walker to discuss how things are progressing with negotiations.
Here is what she had to say;
 Bargaining is moving along,
 There are currently 6 dates set aside for Bargaining with the Employer,
 The conciliator will be in attendance on April 28th,
 Additional dates will be set as needed,
 The bargaining committee remains committed to negotiating a fair collective agreement.
Bargaining Support Committee Update
Your Bargaining Support Committee is working diligently with the 5167 Executive to prepare for any potential strike/
lockout. Currently we are working on updating membership lists, determining prime picket locations, laying out action
plans and getting membership support teams in place.
We are still working on pulling together our resources to secure a strong team, so if anyone interested in joining the
Bargaining Support Committee please let us know by emailing bargaining@cupe5167.org.
Picket Captain Training
For those interested in volunteering to be a PICKET CAPTAIN, we are looking at holding training mid-May; more
information to come soon. If you haven’t already let us signed up and wish to volunteer, send us an email to
bargaining@cupe5167.org.
Questions and Answers
We’ve been receiving some questions about what happens during a strike/ lock-out. We have put together a Question &
Answer pamphlet that will hopefully answer common inquiries associated with strike action.

Strike Registration Form
In order to participate in Picket Duty, each 5167 member must be registered with the Local. Please take a few minutes to
fill out the Strike Registration Form as soon as possible so we can update our files to ensure the transition into strike mode
be as smooth as possible.

You can return the completed forms to the CUPE 5167 office (818 King St. E); or give your form to a workplace steward or
one of the Bargaining Support Committee Members who will get your form to us.
We need to send a message loud and clear to our employer that we will protect what we
have and fight for what we deserve.
We will do this TOGETHER!
In Solidarity,
Loretta Marshall
Bargaining Support Coordinator, on behalf of your CUPE 5167 City Unit Bargaining Support Committee
