HORIZONS March 2015 Newsletter of the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 1091, #103 - 7311 Vantage Way, Delta, BC V4G 1C9 Website: www.cupelocal1091.com Phone: 604-940-8596 Email: local1091@telus.net As we move toward Spring, I look around and feel blessed to be living in this part of our country. Trees are already blooming; crocuses are sprouting up out of the ground and sunshine is streaming in my windows every day. It’s hard not to get excited about what lays ahead as the days get longer and the weather gets warmer. th This Sunday, March 8 , marks International Womens’ Day. There are many opportunities to join celebrations in and around our communities. Get out and celebrate the achievements women have made towards equality in the labour movement. Please go to www.internationalwomensday.com for more information and events in your community. Also, this Sunday, remember to turn your clocks ahead by 1 hour as we move into Daylight Savings Time. While most of us begrudge the loss of this extra hour of sleep, this feeling will soon dissolve as we have more time to be outside with our family and friends enjoying the lengthening days of Spring. Lastly, Spring Break is just around the corner. I know our 10 month employees are looking forward to a much needed break and our 12 month employees a quieter pace at which to get caught up with our workload that never seems to diminish. Whichever group you fit into, please remember to take time to relax and rejuvenate your inner spirit. If you can, get away with family and reconnect with your loved ones. Enjoy! In solidarity, Patti Price President , CUPE Local 1091 The next General Membership Meeting will be held at North Delta Secondary in the Library, th on Saturday, March 28 , 2015 at 9:30 am sharp. Please join us for goodies and a door prize.
