Press Release Boston Children’s Hospital adds Children’s & Women’s Physicians of Westchester to its Community of Care Growing the leading pediatric care network in the northeast Boston, MA, May 21, 2015 – Boston Children’s Hospital today announced that Children’s & Women’s Physicians of Westchester (CWPW), a group of more than 276 physicians across 57 locations serving families throughout New York’s Metropolitan Area, the Hudson Valley, Connecticut and New Jersey, will become the newest member of its integrated network of pediatric care locations and partnerships. Upon completion of the transaction, CWPW will become a corporate affiliate and continue providing care to their patients and families. “While Boston Children’s has long served patients and families from the tri-state area, the affiliation with CWPW will enable us to better serve pediatric patients, who require highly complex care through improved integration,” said Sandra L. Fenwick, President and CEO of Boston Children’s Hospital. “We look forward to building relationships with the clinicians from CWPW as we work together to build the leading pediatric network in the northeast for children and families across the region. Boston Children’s Community of Care is guided by the vision of providing a network of pediatric care locations and partnerships. Boston Children’s delivers the highest-quality care in local communities and makes investments to ensure accessibility, affordability and enhancement in pediatric health. “Joining Boston Children’s is an opportunity to collaborate with additional specialists and take advantage of enhanced expertise both on guidelines and protocols. Patients and families will have the security of knowing that their physician is connected with a world-class team,” said Dr. Leonard Newman, President of Children’s & Women’s Physicians of Westchester. CWPW physicians led the effort to establish the Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital at Westchester Medical Center and now serve as the majority of its physicians. CWPW physicians will remain faculty of New York Medical College, continue to staff 10 area NICUs and maintain their current affiliations across the region. “The quality of the clinical practices and CWPW’s well-established leadership in pediatric care across the tri-state area is aligned with Boston Children’s vision of working collaboratively to provide the best care possible for children and families,” said Kevin Churchwell, MD, Executive Vice President of Health Affairs and Chief Operating Officer. “As part of this vision, we look forward to the continued CWPW collaboration with Westchester Medical Center and NY Medical College.” The transaction has been approved by the governing bodies of Boston Children’s and CWPW. The deal is expected to close later this summer.
