exhibitors are accepted for adjudication on the understanding that they are
capable of complying with the Health & Safety at work Act 1974 and the
regulations which come under that act. Failure to comply with the statutory
regulations will mean that the exhibitor will be asked to remove him/herself
& his/her exhibits from the showground.
Persons are admitted to the showground at their own risk and whilst every
endeavour is taken to ensure their safety, the Society will not (save for

LLANDDAROG FAIR CAKES
Llanddarog was situated on one of the drover’s routes and a major
ingredient of the cakes was beer. This helped keep them in good
condition for a long time on the drovers’ journey to markets or better
grazing land.
Ingredients (for approximately 6 cakes):
12 oz/350 grams self-raising flour
8 oz/225 grams butter
6 oz/175 grams sugar
3-4 table spoons beer
4oz/110 grams currants, sultanas, raisins or mixed fruit
Method:
Mix the flour and sugar together and rub in the butter, mix in the beer
to form a soft dough. Roll out on a floured board to a thickness of quarter to
half inch thickness. Cut into rounds and press the fruit into the surface.
Cook in a moderate oven (375 deg F / Mark 5) for about 15 minutes.
