Delmarva Christian High School’s Tuition Assistance Policies and Committee Guidelines:
DCHS is committed to meeting the demonstrated financial need of all families whose children are
accepted. To enable us to do this with the finite resources available, and to help us make fair and
equitable decisions, the following policies and guidelines have been adopted:
•
If the parents are separated or divorced ̵the full process, including tax documentation, is
requested from both parents.
•
If there are stepparents, ̵the TAG committee will consider all parties’ assets and liabilities as
we review the student’s financial situation. Non-custodial parents must also submit a Family
Grant & Aid Application to help complete the student’s financial background.
•
If multiple children attend schools or colleges which charge tuition, ̵it is expected that the
family will be applying for tuition assistance at all schools. DCHS should not be expected to
implicitly subsidize tuition at other schools or colleges.
•
If a parent elects to return to school or to change jobs,̵or a sibling elects to enroll in a fifth
year advanced degree program resulting in a decrease in family financial resources, DCHS
cannot underwrite this family choice with greater tuition assistance.
•
If one parent is temporarily unemployed and not disabled, ̵
the TAG committee will evaluate
the situation based on past years of employment history and current unemployment income. If
tuition assistance is given, the unemployed parent may be asked to participate in quarterly TAG
reviews to report on the progress made in his/her job search.
•
Tuition assistance grants are annual; ̵a family must reapply each year they seek tuition
assistance. When there are dramatic changes in a family’s financial situation due to a significant
financial set back, we will do all we can to make it possible for the child(ren) to receive the
tuition assistance needed to continue at DCHS. At the same time, we expect a family in this
situation to make other adjustments to their family expenditures, in addition to seeking tuition
aid, to help cover the cost of Christian education. Likewise, when a family’s financial situation
improves greatly, the annual grant will be adjusted to reflect the positive gain.
Please call or e-mail if you have questions or concerns about meeting our deadlines.
