Signatures of owner, riders, handlers, coach, trainer and consent for junior exhibitor if appropriate. • Copy of each horse’s registration papers with pedigree. • Copies of your current AHA and USEF Competition cards. If you are not a current member of AHA, there is a $35.00 Single Event Membership fee per person. If you are not a current member of USEF, Show pass fee $30.00 fee per person (all ages). • A $5.00 fee per horse entered for Resolution 9-90. This fee is mandatory and must be included. • A check made payable to Fiesta Del Mar for all fees included on the entry form. There will be a $50.00 charge for any returned checks or declined credit cards (per attempt). SHOW OFFICE - Phone (858) 509-5172, Fax (858) 408-3831 The show office will be open Thursday, April 2, from 9:00 am until 5:00pm (with a short lunch break at approximately 12:30pm). On show days, the office will be open from 7:00am until after the last class of the day (with posted lunch and dinner breaks) and will remain open after the last class of the show for approximately one hour. 9 SHOW INFORMATION CLASS CALLS Due to unforeseeable problems with any mechanical devices, the PA system and paddock calls must be considered a courtesy. It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to be sure that his horse is at the gate at the prescribed time. Every effort will be made to maintain a working PA system to carry class calls; however, no protest will be upheld, nor will any class be changed on the basis of PA malfunction alone. REFUNDS Horses may be scratched from the show at the owner’s option. Refunds of entry fees will be considered for any horse suffering from illness or injury upon the presentation of a veterinarian’s certificate accompanied with a letter explaining the circumstances to the Show Secretary PRIOR to the start of said show. Requests for any refunds due to the illness or injury of the exhibitor and accompanied with a letter from the doctor will be considered and will be subject to Management’s decision if they are received PRIOR to the start of said show. ALL REQUESTS MUST BE IN WRITING ACCOMPANIED BY A VETERINARIANS CERTIFICATE OR DOCTORS LETTER AND MUST BE RECEIVED BY THE SHOW SECRETARY PRIOR TO THE START OF THE SAID SHOW. On approved refund requests ONLY class fees will be refunded. NO refunds will be made on stall/tack/ groom rooms drug fees resolution fees office fees or any other fees. All refunds granted will be made by mail in approximately 2 weeks after the show. Substitution of horses will be permitted as stated in USEF GR911. CANCELLATION OF ENTRY To encourage early entries the Management agrees to cancel and refund entry stall and all fees on any horse not fit to show providing written or email notification nharvey440@aol.com is given to the Show Secretary on or before entry closing date. SCRATCHING OR CANCELING CLASSES - As a courtesy to the gateman and announcer and show office, exhibitors are requested to notify the gateman and show office when it is necessary to scratch or cancel a class entered. This courtesy will enable the Show to run more efficiently. Your consideration will be greatly appreciated. DIRECTIONS Directions: The Del Mar Fairgrounds is located 20 miles north of downtown San Diego, at 2260 Jimmy Durante Blvd. in the city of Del Mar, California. From Interstate 5, take the Via de la Valle exit and head west (a left turn from the freeway exit if you are northbound; a right turn if you are southbound). Take Via De La Valle to Jimmy Durante Boulevard and turn left. Follow signs and the instructions of parking personnel to Fair parking. STALL DECORATIONS Stall decorations shall be made of non-flammable or treated material and maintained in flame retardant condition. SHOWING FROM TRAILERS Exhibitors MAY show from their trailers. No bedding will be provided by the show. All horse stalls must be bedded with shavings. No straw is allowed on the grounds. Feed and bedding may be ordered from the Del Mar Feed Store at the fairgrounds. Call 858-509-5245 to pre-order bedding or feed. Payment for feed and bedding must be made directly to the Del Mar Feed Store. Grooming and tack rooms are available at a fee of $110 each. Tack rooms may have concrete floors and/or regular entry doors. Each animal must be assigned a separate stall (except for broodmares with suckling foals) unless no stall is requested, in which case a grounds free of $35 per horse per day shall be charged. A stall or grounds fee must be paid for every horse entered. Removal of stall, groom or tack room doors will incur a $100 per stall charge plus damages. “Stable me with” requests will only be considered if indicated on the entry form. If you have any special requests or considerations, submit them on a separate sheet with your entry. Exhibitors wishing to be stable together must submit their entries together in the same envelope. Assignment of stalls is entirely at the discretion of the Barn Manager. Horses must be placed in stalls assigned and no changes will be permitted without the express consent of the Barn Manager. Assignment will be made as fairly as possible on the basis of many considerations, including sponsorship support, number of horses, past participation in this show, optimum use and convenience, show decor, time of receipt of entries, ring use, number of classes entered and access considerations. We ask your cooperation in these assignments and once assignments have been made, please do not deviate without specific approval of the Barn Manager. A $55 per day charge for the use of any stall or tack room by anyone other than the exhibitor assigned to same will be charged to the user. STABLE AVAILABILITY - Stalls will be available Wednesday, April 1, and must be vacated no later than 7:00 am Monday April 6. Exhibitors MAY NOT use straw for bedding. Exhibitors planning an earlier arrival (prior to Wednesday) or a late departure, must request the early arrival or late departure with the Barn Manager. While every request will be considered, those requests will need to be approved by the Del Mar Fairgrounds before the Barn Manager can authorize the request. All fees associated with early arrival or late departure must be paid directly to the Del Mar Fairgrounds. The Barn Manager will be on the grounds commencing Wednesday, April 1, and thereafter throughout the show. Notice to early arrivals - all arenas will be closed to exhibitors until Thursday morning, April 2nd. TRAILER PARKING AREAS - As soon as horses are unloaded vehicles must be moved to designated parking areas. No parking in barn aisles. RV/OVERNIGHT PERMITS - All RV space reservations must be made with and paid directly to Del Mar Fairgrounds (858) 509-5245. TROPHIES AND RIBBONS - Awards will be presented to first place with ribbons to first through sixth in all classes. Championship performance classes will receive awards for first place with ribbons for first through sixth. PRIZE MONEY Prize money will be paid by check at the time of class awards and will be divided as shown below: No prize money will be awarded for classes with less than three horses showing, $150 Championship Classes — Champion - $100, Reserve Champion - $50 Concurrently judged classes $150 will be awarded for each judge’s placing. No prize money will be mailed. 11 SHOW INFORMATION ARENA DIMENSIONS & FOOTING - The Grandstand (Del Mar) arena is 317’ x 153’; the San Diego arena (nearest to the first turn of the race track) and the Jimmy Durante Arena (to the east of the San Diego arena) are both 250’ x 125’. All arenas have sand, shavings and dirt for footing. In addition, the chute for the back stretch furlong is used for warm-up, has the same footing as the race track and is one furlong in length. CALIFORNIA DRUG FEE - A $5.00 fee per horse (mandatory) will be collected for State of California Drug Testing program. CRUELTY AND ABUSE - USEF GR839 AR105 AND AHA ARTICLE 304.6 WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED AT ALL AHA RECOGNIZED COMPETITIONS. DISCIPLINE - Exhibitors are warned that any act of discourtesy to the officials of this show on the part of the owner, lessee, trainer, groom, rider or driver will disqualify the horse from adjudication. The management reserves the right to remove a horse owner, lessee, trainer, groom, or rider from the show without being liable for compensation or damages. GATE RULE - Due to a full schedule of classes the TWO-MINUTE limit after last call for a class will be strictly enforced. Exhibitors are cautioned against entering the same horse in successive classes. The gate will close 2 minutes after the first horse enters the ring or in cases with large classes taking more than 2 minutes at the completion of final horse in the continuous string of horses. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE EXHIBITOR TO BE SURE THAT HIS/HER HORSE IS AT THE GATE ON TIME. CLASS CALLS MUST BE CONSIDERED A COURTESY ONLY. No protests will be upheld on the basis of a public address system malfunction. HEADGEAR - All juniors riding in Hunter Seat Equitation sections must wear properly fitting protective headgear while riding in the designated schooling & exercise areas the show ring and while jumping anywhere on the competition grounds. Harness must be secured and properly fitted. Any rider violating this rule must immediately be prohibited from further riding until such headgear is property in place. Any exhibitor may wear protective headgear (ASTM/SEA) in any division or class without penalty from the judge. HALF ARABIAN/ANGLO ARABIAN COLTS/STALLIONS - Half Arabian and Anglo-Arabian stallions registered with AHA or which have been issued an AHA CPAR (Canadian Part-bred Arabian Register) Permit are permitted to compete in the AHA PERFORMANCE CLASSES for HA/AA and Anglo-Arabian horses. Half Arabian and Anglo-Arabian colts & stallions two years & older may compete in Sport Horse In Hand Classes. MAIDEN NOVICE AND LIMIT CLASSES - Maiden Novice & Limit classes are open to horses which have not won one/three/six first place ribbons respectively at Regular Member Competitions of USEF or CEF in the particular performance division in which they are shown. For these shows a Maiden Novice or Limit Horse/Rider is as of the closing date of entries. LOCATION OF CLASSES - Show management reserves the right to hold classes or portions of classes on the grounds outside the Main Arena if it is found necessary to do so or to change and/or modify the Schedule of Events as necessary to accommodate the entries received. FARRIER AND VETERINARIAN - The farrier will be on the grounds throughout the show. The Veterinarian information will be on grounds throught the show. A notice will be posted at the show office with the Veterinarian’s name & phone number. 12 GENERAL INFORMATION EVERY CLASS OFFERED HEREIN WHICH IS COVERED BY THE RULES AND SPECIFICATIONS OF THE CURRENT FEDERATION RULE BOOK WILL BE CONDUCTED AND JUDGED IN ACCORDANCE THEREWITH. USEF MEMBERSHIP STATEMENT Life, senior active and junior active members shall be eligible to participate in all classes at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions at the Preliminary Level or above and Combined Driving Competitions at the Advanced Level, Dressage, Reining and Vaulting Competitions and Endurance Rides. A nonmember may participate as a handler, rider, driver, owner, lessee, agent, coach or trainer at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions, Dressage Competitions, Reining Competitions and Combined Driving Competitions upon payment of a $30 nonmember registration fee. Participants in the following classes are exempted from the Requirements of this rule: 1) leadline; 2) exhibitions; 3) games and races; 4) classes for 4-H members; 5) walk trot and academy classes (academy classes are classes limited to horses used regularly in a lesson program); 6) USDF introductory level tests, pas de deux and quadrille classes; 7) NRHA Endorsed Reining Competitions. 8) Opportunity classes, 9) citizens of other nations who have proof, in English, of current membership in good standing of their own National Federation, 10) USEA beginner novice division; and 11) assistant handlers in Dressage Sport Horse Breeding classes. AHA MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS – Copies of ALL trainer’s, driver’s, rider’s and Breeding/ Halter handler’s and at least ONE Owner’s current AHA COMPETITION Membership Cards MUST be included with the horse show entry form at the time of entry. Any owner, trainer, driver, rider, breeding/halter handler who exhibits horses in the show ring or signs the entry form as the responsible person for any individual’s horses at the show must be a current competition member of AHA at the time of entry and at the time of showing. An AHA Single Event Membership Fee of $35.00 must be paid ONE TIME ONLY for both shows if not a current competition member of AHA or you do not have a current competition card. Membership Affidavits are no longer available. USEF MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS - Copies of every owner’s trainer’s rider’s driver’s and breeding/In-hand halter handler’s current USEF Membership Cards MUST be included with the horse show entry form at the time of entry. If showing in Amateur classes, the card must have Amateur Certification included. If you do not have a copy of your current USEF membership card, you will have to pay $30.00 non refundable non member fee. If you are NOT a member of USEF, you MUST pay the appropriate non-member fee. Affidavits are no longer available. USEF Membership for an adult is $55 (with or without amateur certification). USEF Membership for junior is $55.00 USEF AMATEUR CERTIFICATION AMATEUR OWNER FAMILY DEFINITION - An Amateur Owner Class is one in which every contestant is an Amateur and the rider, driver, or handler is the Owner or an Amateur Member of the owner’s family. “Family” includes husband, wife, parent, stepparent, child, brother, stepchild , sister, half-brother and sister, aunt, uncle, niece, nephew, grandmother, grandfather and in-laws of the same relation as stated. Combined ownership is NOT permitted in Amateur/Owner classes unless all owners are members of the same family. LEASED horses are NOT eligible. (See USEF GR136) AMATEUR CERTIFICATION - Only active Federation members may obtain amateur status. Every person who has reached his/her 18th birthday and competes in classes for amateurs under Federation rules must possess current amateur status issued by the Federation. (Exception: This is not required for Opportunity classes). This status must be available for inspection or the competitor must have lodged with the competition secretary, at least one hour prior to such class, an application for such status provided by the Federation. Amateur status will be issued only on receipt of the application properly signed and is revocable at any time for cause. Foreign riders requesting Federation Amateur status, must be a Junior, Senior or Life Competing Member of the Federation (Exception: Equine Canada members in possession of current EC membership may sign for USEF Amateur status on a 13 GENERAL INFORMATION show by show basis at no cost). Any person who has not reached his/her 18th birthday is an amateur and does not require amateur status. 2. An amateur continues to be such until he/she has received a change in status from the Federation. Any amateur who wishes to be re-classified on the grounds that he/she has engaged or is planning on engaging in activities which would prevent him/her from continuing to remain an amateur must notify the Federation in writing. 3. There is no fee for amateur status for Senior Active or Life Members. Such status will expire on November 30th. INDEMNITY AND NON-RESPONSIBILITY CLAUSES - All entries are accepted with the understanding that Fiesta Del Mar Horse Show and the Del Mar Fairgrounds not be held responsible for any loss damage or injury to any horse exhibited or any article of any kind. All horses shall be under the control and direction of the Show Committee but solely at the risk of the exhibitor who will be responsible for any loss damage or injury to any person animal or property occasioned by him his agents or employees or by an animal owned or exhibited any and shall indemnify the TDNAHA, Desert Arabian Horse Association, Region 1 AHA and Del Mar Fairgrounds against any and all loss damages and liability thus occasioned including but not limited to any and all legal costs including attorney fees which may be incurred as a result thereof. The submitting of an entry form to the Show Secretary shall constitute an acceptance by each person signing same of the provisions herein set forth. JUDGES - If for any reason a judge fails to attend this show or perform his/her duties the Show Committee reserves the right to substitute a judge for the one who is officially designated in the Prize List. It is a violation of USEF Rules to commit any act or make remarks during the show that are considered offensive and/or made with the intent to influence or cast aspersions on the judging. No one shall approach a judge with regard to a decision or at any time unless he first obtains permission from the Show Steward who shall arrange an appointment with the judge at a proper time and place. MOTORIZED VEHICLES —Minors who do not have a valid driver’s license which allows them to operate a motorized vehicle in the state in which they reside will not be permitted to operate a motorized vehicle of any kind, including, but not limited to, golf carts, motorcycles, scooters, or farm utility vehicles, on the competition grounds of licensed competitions. Minors who have a valid temporary license may operate the above described motorized vehicles as long as they are accompanied by an adult with a valid driver’s license. The parent(s), legal guardian(s), or individual who signs the entry blank as a parent or guardian of a minor operating a motorized vehicle in violation of this rule are solely responsible for any damages, claims, losses or actions resulting from that operation. Violations of this rule will be cause for sanctions against the parent(s), guardian(s) and/or trainer(s) who are responsible for the child committing the offense. Penalties may include exclusion of the child, parent(s), guardian(s), and/ or trainer(s) from the competition grounds for the remainder of the competition and charges being filed against any of the above individuals in accordance with Chapter 6. Wheelchairs and other mobility assistance devices for individuals with disabilities are exempt from this rule. RESOLUTION 9-90 FEE - Every horse competing in these shows must pay $4.00 PER HORSE ONLY ONCE to fund the Education & Evaluation program for A.H.A. judges & stewards. RULES - This Horse Show is conducted in accordance with the rules of the US Equestrian Federation (National Equestrian Federation of the United States) Chapter AR - Arabian HA/AA and Anglo-Arabian Division. The official Rule Book of US Equestrian will prevail for this show. This Prize List is based on rules of the current Rule Book; any changes or corrections of rules will automatically become a part of the Prize List. Each participant in this show is responsible for knowledge of and is subject to the USEF Rules.
