HARLEY-DAVIDSON RECOGNIZED
FOR OUTSTANDING PERFOMANCE
Northwood’s Harley-Davidson was awarded with the Harley-Davidson Motor Company prestigious Gold
Bar & Shield Circle of Excellence Award for the 2014 calendar year. This award is presented to the top

Emergency Food Supply
IF YOU HAVE AN ARTICLE OF INTEREST FOR
“MEMBERS IN THE NEWS”, PLEASE EMAIL TO :
lindstrom@dickinsonchamber.com
The goal for April is to have an emergency food supply that will meet the needs of your family. If you already
have a stockpile, this is good time to check on expiration dates and rotate the food if necessary. Be sure you
have at least 3 days’ worth, a week’s supply would be even better.
Your emergency food supply does not have to be separate from your everyday foods. The key is to plan and
buy ahead of time. You can also buy in bulk for shelf stable food items your family eats every day, like peanut
butter, crackers, and canned goods. Buy items when they are on sale. If you prefer to keep the emergency
food separate, designate space in your basement or purchase a couple of large, plastic totes to keep the food in.
Make sure your family, including pets, will have what they need when a disaster strikes.

Stewart Manufacturing, LLC
Stewart Manufacturing, LLC Spotlight
Stewart Manufacturing, LLC located in Hermansville, MI manufactures products for the diesel
engine, agricultural, mining and most recently, the medical industry. The company has experienced
and average year-on-year growth of 22 percent during its 12 year span. Annual sales now reach
$22 million.
In February 2012, Stewart acquired American Tool and Die in downstate Manton, MI. That company
has been renamed American Instrument & Implant and relocated to the Hermansville facility.
American Instrument & Implant is a manufacturer of spinal and orthopedic implants and surgical
instruments.
“With all the economic downturns in the past 12 years, I guess we must be doing something
right. We’ve maintained a solid balance sheet through these tough times which has enabled us to
facilitate new growth opportunities. The acquisition of the medical business has really improved
our diversification model to allow us to become even stronger. We are all looking forward to what
the next 10 years brings. As for the last 12 years, I couldn’t be more proud of what our team has
accomplished” said owner Greg Stewart.
2014 brought the completion of an additional 21,000 square feet of manufacturing space to allow
for further growth in both the industrial and medical segments of the business. With the additional
floor space Stewart has been able to bring in more complex equipment to meet the demands of
its customers. Randall McLeod, Vice President of Stewart Manufacturing stated, “The ability of
today’s CNC machines are far greater than what we started with 12 years ago. When we started
we were utilizing 3 and 4 axis machines. Today we have machines with up to 12 axis which allows
us to process components far more efficiently and with the precision that our customers have come
to expect from us.” The addition of more advanced equipment, as well as automation has allowed
Stewart Manufacturing to compete in today’s global marketplace. “It’s a real testament to our
employees on how they have been able to take on the level of sophistication that has been brought
in and really excel at it” added McLeod.
Stewart Manufacturing currently employs 110 people from the tri-county area; Dickinson, Delta and
Menominee Counties.
