As with any complex construction project, there is a possibility that the schedule could be impacted by weather or other unforeseen circumstances. PROJECT BENEFITS Rubberized asphalt, or “quiet pavement,” is composed of regular asphalt paving mixed with used, ground tires. Rubberized asphalt is environmentally friendly; resurfacing projects such as this recycle thousands of used tires. ADOT has successfully engineered the use of more than 10 million waste tires into over 2,500 miles of state highways. Quiet pavement is smoother and quieter than conventional asphalt paving. Quiet pavement reduces tire noise by an average of four decibels.
