Adding to the success Danielle Clark took home the Fantasy Total Look bronze medal and the ladies Cut and Colour silver medal. PARTNERS Hairdressing and Beauty 02 HAIRDRESSING AND BEAUTY COREEN DOCHERTY // UK SPA THERAPIST OF THE YEAR Edinburgh College beauty student Coreen Docherty, from Bathgate was named UK Spa Therapist of the Year at the Macdonald Hotels & Resorts High Achievers Awards 2014. Coreen, is in her second year of the HND Beauty Therapy also works in the Leisure Club and Spa at the Macdonald Houstoun House Hotel in in West Lothian. Frances Bain, curriculum manager of Hairdressing and Beauty said: “It is a fantastic achievement for someone at such an early stage in her career”. Beauty therapy has always been something I wanted to do. I wanted to come to Edinburgh College because the Hair and Beauty department has a great reputation. This enables students who suffer from asthma to work. Partnerships with industry experts; Wella, Elemis and Dermalogica allow us to offer the treatments with the best quality products. It also means we are able to offer you exciting opportunities, with national competitions and initiatives run by Wella and Elemis. The academy also offers a Nioxin clinic, in conjunction with Wella. The specialist clinic, which diagnoses hair and scalp problems and advises clients on effective solutions, is one of the first to be built within a college environment. In 2014 Edinburgh College became Scotland’s first ‘eco’ college hair and beauty academy.
