VETERAN’S ASSOCIATION AT DOLCE VITA
Monday, April 13th, 3:00 PM, Craft Room
Our Dolce Vita Veterans meet every month, and are
working to provide items for homeless and needy veterans
in the valley. We have been doing flag ceremonies at the
flagpole, events such as lunches, hospital visitations, a pool
tournament/potluck, etc. Join us at our next meeting and be
a part of the group. All are welcome.
HATS FOR OUR HEROES
The members of the Veteran’s association at Dolce
Vita have just learned that the homeless veterans here
in the valley are in dire need of “gently used”
baseball caps. The caps along with the “Ditty Bags”
will be distributed at the Central Arizona Shelter Services (C.A.S.S.), where the homeless vets show up
for services needed. For example, medical, meals,
counseling, therapy and so forth. The very popular
Ditty Bags made up of donated items by our residents
are extremely appreciated and looked forward to by
the vets. Please remember that these men and
women are out on the streets and in the weather 24/7
and all the items are greatly needed. For more
information, please contact one of our Members.

Thanks to everyone that turned their clocks back to March
14, 1955 and came out to the Sock Hop. It could not have
been done without the great team of Dolce Vita Residents
that helped behind the scenes. 185 pairs of socks were
donated to CAAFA in Apache Junction. Kudos to all
those that stayed after to help clean up!
Kari Jacobson #4031

If you miss a sign-up or need additional information.
By the time you read this, your Easter donations for the
Apache People on the San Carlos Reservation will probably have been delivered. Carol and I would like to take this
time to thank each and every one of you who have so
generously given. Thanks to you, Apache mothers on the
reservation were able to feed their families a decent holiday
meal. In an area where 70% un-employment rate is the
norm, a meal with meat is indeed a luxury. We ask for your
assistance three times a year, (Thanksgiving, Christmas and
Easter) and even though many of us are on a fixed income,
you come through for them. Please know that the name
“Dolce Vita” is held in very high regard at the St. Charles
Apache Indian School/Church and all recipients.
On behalf of Pastor, Father Ignatius, Sister Ruth Barbara
and the staff, thank you for being so generous.
May God Bless You All,
Richard & Carol Marola
Line dancing is fun and great exercise! Men and women

“THE RESIDENTS’ CORNER”
This is our first informed page of “Tidbits & Happenings” and upcoming Resident-Run activities from
the residents.
An open meeting was held on March 24th for all residents. We formed a committee and representatives
to lead our Resident-run activities and Social events. The names and contact information will appear in
the May’s newsletter as well as in the Craft Room on the “Resident Corner” bulleting board.
For the month of March there were several excellent suggestions on the bulletin board:
* Dennis Harvill would like to see an archery group started.
* Barb Bardini, to combine an activity with another community. Such as a trip to Algodones,
Mexico.
* Meatball cook-off
* Rhonda Clark had several suggestions: Hawaiian Beach Party, Biker Party and Blue Grass
* Painting group.
Education:
* Iphone and photo class
* Beginning painting class
Social/Fun With Friends:
* Mesa Art Center
* Bus shopping trip to the Outlets
* Music Museum
* Basha’s Western Museum
* Day trip to Tuscon
Happenings and Tidbits from our Box in the Craft Room:
* Elvira’s Mexican Restaurant food was great, but “Service outrageously poor!”
* Superstition Mountain Museum a “great place”.
* Mata Ortiz exhibit was wonderful. (Sorry, we don’t know where this was seen.)
From Christi Parrish #4006: “I have had a great volunteer experience at Furever Friends Rescue. (http://
fureverfriendsrescue.org/index.html) we adopt out cats and dogs that have lost their home due to owners
no longer being able to keep them because of illness or going into an assisted living facility. We clean
the casitas, brush them, and socialize with them so they will be more adoptable. It’s very rewarding in
being able to contributeto giving them a second chance at life. 602-750-2283”
I’ll leave this poem last from Bryanna, “Roses are red, violets are blue, without you I’ll be blue.” Not
sure who she is, but the thought it nice for her to drop it in the box.
Successful events this past month: Sock Hop, girls’ PJ Party, Auction and SLS Concert. Also a Canadian Social and Monday Happy Hour. We even had a great turnout for the Cardiac Compression Resuscitation (CCR) class after Monday morning coffee.
Please visit the Residents’ Corner bulletin board and keep the happenings and activities coming in.
