DHS Blue Belle Tryout Information Packet 2015-2016 Dear Parents and Dorman Blue Belle Hopefuls, I am so excited about the opportunities and experiences ahead for the Dorman Blue Belle members for the 2015-2016 year. Since the dance team may be new to you, I feel it is important to share some basic information about the team and audition process. The 2015-2016 Blue Belles will consist of freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors. They will perform at football games, pep rallies, competitions, basketball games, and other special events. In addition to these performances, the team will also participate in fundraising and community service projects. The 15-16 auditions will determine which new girls will be selected to be a part of the Dorman dance team. This is a very important step in each girl’s life: some will experience the thrill of becoming a Blue Belle, while others will have the opportunity to increase their knowledge of dance. If the student has their parent’s complete support, she will be able to keep her final outcome in perspective. Each girl is a winner for trying, but she must understand that membership on the Blue Belles is limited. Tryouts for the Blue Belle dance team will be held on April 23,2015 from 4:00 pm until in the DHS Gymnasium. The results will be posted by 10 pm that evening on the side of Dorman High School- A wing parking lot. Each new member announced will need to attend a required meeting with a parent or guardian on Wednesday, April 29 at 6 pm in the library. Everyone should be prepared to pay their camp fee ($100 deposit) before leaving this meeting. Please read all of the information contained in this packet carefully before signing the contracts. Blue Belle team members are required to meet all requirements set by the instructor. This includes grade policies following ALL rules in the constitution. No outside responsibilities should conflict with Blue Belle membership. You also MUST HAVE A PHYSICAL TO TRY OUT! You may not want to get your physical before April 1st, so it will be valid for next year. The Year in Review **Football Season** Fall is football season and the beginning of our year! The Blue Belles perform at all home varsity games. All members are expected to attend all games with the team and possibly any away playoff games. The members along with a parent also have to sign up for designated spirit nights at local restaurants. **Competition** If the director decides that competition will be beneficial for the team, we will go to as many as we can. Competition is a serious time for the team and a chance for them to grow as a team and as individuals. All members are expected to participate in competition. Competitions may be in the fall, winter, and spring. Members will be chosen to perform by audition. Practices are held after school during regular practice time, and could possibly be on Saturdays if needed. **Basketball Season** Basketball season is a lot of fun for the girls. We dance at most, if not all, of home games during half time. We switch off with the cheerleaders. We will do either boys half time or girls half time. All members are expected to attend all games with the team. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION!!! Fundraising: The Blue Belles rely on fundraising to support the activities of the team. Without full support from the team in each of these events, we would be unable to participate in many activities. The girls hold a fundraiser off and on throughout the year, depending on financial needs. Team members are expected to participate in any and all fundraisers that benefit the team as a whole.
