DURAN KEELEY Portfolio See opportunity where others see obstacles Be irrational, ridiculous, and nonsensical. Win, even when no one gives you a chance. 01 Introduction In 2009, I started college to study graphic design. During that time I networked with some of the most awesome people, leads that got me even to do training material design for one of the top supermarkets in the country, SPAR. Which is great achievement for a first year student. My 2nd year I then started doing weekend work for a college lecturer, which got me into Web Design, I worked closely with my lecturer under his company and gained a lot of experience working with clients, going to meetings with Tommy and liaising with the clients . I learnt how to present myself, as well as take a client’s words and form ideas. Besides design I went off to client’s offices, backed up machines, setup local offices for clients based overseas and other technical support. While outside college I have gained experience in other fields, I was involved in DTP work for a Publication Office and ran my own hosting & design company. 02 Noxa Working with Gerhard converting his vision into a brand for his company by taking the time with each meeting I was able to produce ideas from paper to digital, listening to my client and providing the trust allowed me to take on more of the project. From 3D renders of a product and packaging, to producing and maintain the website for Gerhard. 03 Logo Final Version 04 Logo Creation Gerhard had a specific style he wanted his logo, from many revised sketches I was asked to create a digital logo from the sketch. With the handmade font a 3D shadow was added to make the logo stand out, making it visible on all types of print. 05 PANTONE: Warm Red C NOXA ORANGE FOR WEB USE R: 241 G: 101 Blue: 049 FOR PRINTING USE C: 00 M: 75 Y: 90 K: 00 PANTONE: NONE NOXA BROWN 06 FOR WEB USE R: 119 G: 070 Blue: 012 FOR PRINTING USE C: 20 M: 60 Y: 100 K: 50 Website Design I was asked to create a website with stock elements, from the provided image as well as some 3D renders were used to create the bottle, a clean and visible image as the home page . 07 08 The Green Rope The Green Rope is a national online database, housing students from all recognized South African tertiary institutions. Our focus is on part-time or permanent employment. Once registered, businesses will be allowed to browse the database for a suitable candidate through specified search criteria, nationwide and from the comfort of their desk. Approached by Deborah to produce a branding showing the linking to between qualified/prequalified students and local business, in the brief the colours Green & Blue was picked to show the students and business respectively. Sitting down and working with the client we were able to agree with a reef knot and some visual aspects applied with a high quality photoshop image the end resulted in a happy customer. Along with setting up the branding of the company I was also tasked with setting up the template of the website and had to input the information provided into a readable and easy to use website and the setup of the company Facebook page as well as other various marketing tools common in South Africa. 09 Logo Creation The logo was created from a picture of a plain white rope, Deborah wanted to show two sides of the company linking, one green and one blue. Removed the background and separated the two ropes in colour to show a clear link. 10 RAW Media TV RAW Media is Durban-based media house who embrace all forms of multi-media production and placement from traditional above-the-line mediums like TV and radio to digital era platforms. Working with Warwick and being involved in all the projects, from creating logos, basic brand launch websites to fully customised Flash presentations, every task thrown my way with a happy relationship between us resulted in many happy recurring clients. 11 Business Card I was asked by Warwick to provide them with a creative business card but also keeping it minimalistic. This innovative advertising platform promotes an efficient interaction with a captive, economically active the public transport commuter. Willie Eybers connected to Warwick at RAW Media approached Warwick for a branding for is company as well as provide a presentation folder design to take to potential clients, Warwick tasked me with the project. With the design I had to illustrate the busy city life and the mode of transport the project was targeting and of course the product. I feel this was achieved with the final design that it was further taking into Business cards and a simple brand launch website. 14 Adplace Publications 15 Advertising Working at Adplace, I created the layout space, working with the clients, as well as creating adverts on request for the clients for the weekly distribution of up to 80 000 copies throughout Kwa-Zulu Natal called the Adz Guide.
