become the first national park established to protect an
imperiled flora and fauna.
May 4–June 13: “Tamiami Trail: In the Beginning,” an exhibition of original works by members of
the Miami-based Tropical Botanic Artists
May 19: Beginning Botanical Illustration Workshop by Silvia Bota and Elsa Nadal
May 21, 6:30pm: Lecture: “Expecting the Unexpected: Pandora’s Box of Paradox in an UpsideDown Estuary,” Evelyn Gaiser, Ph.D., FIU Department of Biology
May 28, 6-8pm: Twilight Tour and Artist Reception. Watch the moon rise over Miami. Check out
the art exhibit of Everglades flora and fauna. Experience The Kampong at twilight.
June 13, 10am: Kids’ Workshop by Maria Teresa D’Azucena
