Holy Angels Mausoleum—Expansion Project Pre-Construction Sales St. Michael Catholic Cemetery History Holy Angels Mausoleum is located in St. Michael Cemetery off Grand Avenue in Wausau, Wisconsin. For over 150 years the consecrated grounds of St. Michael Cemetery has become the final resting place for many. The original mausoleum was built in the early 1980s with surrounding land allowing for expansion. Mausoleum Addition St. Michael Cemetery plans to expand Holy Angels Mausoleum. The expansion will be on the north side of the current mausoleum. Crypts for full body entombment and niches for interment of cremated remains are available at pre-construction prices. The expansion project will begin when 90% of construction costs have been secured through pre-construction sales. Cremation The number of Catholics choosing cremation has increased over the past decade . The interment of cremains is an approved form of Christian burial by the Catholic Church. It is fundamental to traditional teaching on the care of the body that the deceased be properly interred in a sacred place while they await the final resurrection from the dead. Cremains can be committed in a common location with other remains, but they may not be thrown to the four winds, scattered at sea, or put on a mantle. Interment in a mausoleum is an acceptable way to respect the remains of the deceased.
