How the summer flies by, hard to believe it is August
already. I know it has been a busy summer around our
house with a great summer trip (Glacier National Park),
lambs in the back yard getting ready for the Benton
Franklin County Fair, finally some home grown tomatoes
and altogether too few days out on the boat.
Bill Shibley
Chair, Board of Directors
Things around the Tri-City Regional Chamber have been even busier with two of
our signature events (Cool Desert Nights and the River of Fire) successfully completed and more on the calendar yet to come. I would like to thank the staff and
volunteers who helped pull those two events off in a two week time span. It is a
crazy schedule with those major back to back events, but everyone involved did an
outstanding job and once again the events went off with out a hitch. Thanks again!
Of course things don’t slow down at the chamber even in the dog days of summer.
The August Chamber calendar has filled up with ribbon cuttings, committee meetings, Business After Hours, Business Development University and of course our
Network Tri-Cities Membership Luncheon.
The August Network Tri-Cities Membership Luncheon features the Honorable US
Representative Doc Hastings making his regularly scheduled meeting at our lunch.
This is a great opportunity to not only hear what is on the federal agenda, but also
to provide some input to Representative Hastings.
Then looking ahead to September it just doesn’t slow down around the chamber
with the upcoming 7th Annual Tri-Cities Day with the Seahawks at Qwest Stadium
on the 12th. The 20th Annual Golf Classic at Meadow Springs is the very next day
on Monday the 13th! I expect both of these events to be the best ever.
Of course we would love to have you at any or, better yet, all the events. We have a
great chamber with everyone’s participation.
Next time you see one of our great Chamber staffer’s make sure to thank them for
all their hard work with the great events and meetings this summer!

Lockheed Martin is one of the world’s most advanced technology
systems integrators. We are the federal government’s leading
contractor and have been their largest provider of information
technology for the last sixteen years.
As part of this high-tech organization, we continue to deliver
world-class information technology solutions in support of
Hanford cleanup as part of the Mission Support Alliance as well as
support a wide range of customers across the country right here in
Richland, Washington.

companies looking to launch or grow their business
in today’s economy
•
Discover business solutions with timely deployable
information from our “Show Me the Money and Give
Me the Business” seminars
•

•
Initiate and develop business relationships
As part of the Mission Support Alliance team at Hanford, we
are supporting our customers’ cleanup mission with projects
such as integrating new wireless technology solutions that deliver
coverage to 99% of the Plateau and River Corridor while at the
same time ‘keeping it green’ with no new digging or cables. We
are helping ensure the network continues to perform in the most
robust, reliable and secure manner for all its users. And, new Voice
over Internet Protocol, or VoIP, capabilities are helping reduce
infrastructure requirements Site-wide.
We are using similar technologies in support of law enforcement
for several municipalities in the state of California. These solutions
help our customers improve information sharing and the ability
to make informed decisions faster and more accurately than ever
before. Lockheed Martin leverages our local expertise on numerous
contracts in support of the Federal Aviation Administration,
Nuclear Regulatory Commission and Environmental Protection
Agency just to name a few.
Our accomplished team of technology professionals was recently
recognized for achieving 13 million safe work hours at Hanford.
We were also part of a team recognized with the Technical
Excellence Group and Team Award at the Department of Energy’s
Information Management Conference in San Antonio, Texas
in early March. Our Creative & Strategic Services team was
recognized with two Emmys from the National Academy of
Television Arts and Sciences last month.

I am proud to lead this amazing team. Lockheed Martin continues
to invest in the Tri-Cities as a growth engine for this type of talent
and innovation through our employees, local business partners,

established ourselves as a hub for leading-edge technology support
for customers across the country and around the world. That trend
will only continue.

Bid Match is a time-saving software tool that searches over 1,900
sites daily including military, state, local, and federal government
agency websites. Your PTAC Business Counselor collaborates
with you to tailor keywords and other search criteria for your
business to correspond with the types of opportunities you seek.
The search criteria is then matched to bid leads that are e-mailed
to you on a daily basis. Search criteria can be altered at any time
by yourself or with help from PTAC. There is a $135 annual fee
for this service with a 30 day free trial to start.
In addition to receiving the most recent solicitations, Bid Match
can also be used as a marketing tool. Each solicitation lists its
corresponding contracting officer’s contact information allowing
an opportunity to ask questions, if desired. Award information
for prime contractors can also be viewed. In can be beneficial to
see who is securing government work and at what price point.
If you would like to enroll in Bid Match or set-up a free one-onone PTAC counseling session, please call Ashley BenningtonCoronado at the Tri-City Regional Chamber of Commerce.
