Who We Are The Ellensburg Film Festival is now in its fifth year and grows more popular each year. The board is made up of local residents with a wide variety of backgrounds, but one common goal: to bring excellent and innovative films, events, and opportunities to Ellensburg. The Films The Ellensburg Film Festival includes films on the festival circuit but not yet available on the big screen, as well as films made by local artists. Many of the films go on to win awards; two films screened at our 2008 festival were nominated for Academy Awards, with the astounding Man on Wire taking home the Oscar for Best Documentary Feature. Whenever possible, the board brings directors, actors and producers to Ellensburg to give talks after the screening of their films. Festival attendees frequently have the opportunity to meet and mingle with those who were part of the movie-making magic. 2009 Film Festival This year’s film festival will be October 2-4. As usual, full-length features, documentaries, short and animated films will be included in the program. With an annual attendance of more than 2,000, the film festival reaches a broad and diverse audience. Continuing Community Involvement The board is working diligently to bring a free film to Ellensburg every month. After the film, the board hosts a fundraiser with dancing, beverages, and food. This is a new addition to the festival and just one of the many ways the festival is expanding and advertising. How You Can Help With your support, the Ellensburg Film Festival can continue to grow.
