Why Students Go on Field Trips
May and June are the busiest time for classes to go on field trips. Field
trips are a great way for students to connect their learning to the real
world and enriches the curricular themes they are studying.
“Enriching field trips contribute to the development of students into
civilized young men and women who possess more knowledge about art, have stronger critical-thinking
skills, exhibit increased historical empathy, display higher levels of tolerance, and have a greater taste
for consuming art and culture,” the researchers wrote in Education Next.
This spring classes from École Elsie Mironuck will be visiting Government House, The Saskatchewan Science Centre, Royal Saskatchewan Museum, the Floral Conservatory and participating in Outdoor Education trips arranged by the Regina Public School division office staff.
Humane Society Thanks!
Physical Fitness & Sports Month
May is a great month to start spending more time outside. It’s also
National Physical Fitness & Sports Month. At École Elsie Mironuck
School spring is the beginning of a new sports season. Students in grades 4-8 will be participating in track and field events throughout the month in preparation for the school track
meet at Douglas Park on June 3. Senior students will be participating on the school softball
team and playing against other schools in Regina. Many of the physical education classes
are being held outside on nice days which allows for different activities to be practiced.
