Class Placement Primary—(ages 2-5) - 1 hour per week made up of tap, jazz, ballet, & acrobats All other levels—45 minutes or more per week made up of tap/jazz/ballet, hip hop, technique, or voice. Students in the intermediate & above classes will also take lyrical/contemporary during the tap/jazz/ballet class Intensive classes = All Tap/Jazz/Ballet, Technique & Voice classes ages 6 & up—Tap, Jazz & Ballet are combined for all levels and the recital ballet dance is optional. Recreational classes = All Primary and Hip Hop classes New students are first placed in classes according to their number of years of previous experience and their age and then adjusted if needed. Returning students are placed according to their past performances. The final placement decision is determined by the staff. The classes are divided into the following categories: Primary 1, 2, 3, & 4—these classes are automatically recreational and all children ages 5 & under are placed in these classes according to their age and years of training. The classes are 1 hour and consist of tap, jazz, ballet & acrobats. They perform 3 dances in the recital: a tap, jazz & ballet dance. Beginner 1, 2, & 3—these classes are intensive and consist of tap, jazz & ballet. They are for beginners who are 6 and older and are in their 1st, 2nd & sometimes 3rd year of dance. They are 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 hours per week. They will do a tap & jazz dance in recital and the ballet dance is optional. Beginner/Intermediate 1, 2, & 3—these classes are intensive and consist of tap, jazz & ballet. Most primary students who have been in the primary level for 2 or more years skip the beginner level and enter Beg./Int. These classes are for dancers ages 6 and older and who are in their 3rd—6th year. The class lengths are the same as the beginner levels. They will do a tap & jazz dance in recital and the ballet dance is optional. Intermediate 1, 2, & 3—these classes are intensive and consist of tap, jazz, lyrical & ballet. They are for dancers ages 8 and older and who are in their 6th—9th year. The classes are 1 3/4 to 2 hours in length. They will do a tap, jazz & lyrical dance in recital and the ballet dance is optional. These levels will also be invited to participate in Opening Number. Intermediate/Advanced 1 & 2—these classes are intensive and consist of tap, jazz, contemporary/lyrical & ballet. They are for dancers ages 11 and older and who are in their 9th—11th year. The classes are 2 hours in length. They will do a tap, jazz & contemporary/lyrical dance in recital and the ballet dance is optional. These levels are in the Opening Number. Advanced 1 & 2—these classes are intensive and consist of tap, jazz, contemporary/lyrical & ballet. They are for dancers ages 13 and older and who are in at least their 11th year. The class times and recital dances are the same as the Int./Adv. classes and they are also in the Opening Number. Ballet 1, 2, 3, & 4—these classes are intensive and for the students who want additional ballet training. They are for dancers ages 6 and older and any year of dance. The class times are 3/4 to 1 1/2 hours in length and they will perform a dance in recital. Hip-Hop (beginner, beg./int, intermediate, int./adv., & advanced) - these classes are only recreational and are 1 hour per week. These classes are for ages 6 and older and any year of dance and they do perform a dance in recital. Technique—these classes are for students in grades 5th—11th. They will be required to take the tap/jazz/ballet class to be in this class. It will focus on stretching, turns & leaps. It is between 45 minutes and 1 1/2 hours. It is a great prep for dance team tryouts or anyone wanting more technique. They will not be in the recital. Voice—these classes are for any student ages 8 and older. It is a 45 minute class and they will be in recital. The ages are the student’s age by April 30, 2016. A child must be 3 by this date to enroll. Before your child may participate in class, we must have a signed contract and registration form! The contract does not lock you into a year. It just enforces that if your child drops for any reason you must sign a drop form and you will be financially liable for all charges to that point as stated in the contract. There will be a MANDATORY parents’ meeting on the first night of class. Details will be included in the email that you receive by July 31st including all important details. Fees Registration Fee – all ages - $35 until June 30, 2015 and $40 after – we will register at the studio July 18, 20, 21, 22, 23 & 25 Saturdays from 10:00am – 2:00pm & Monday-Thursday from 6:00pm - 8:00pm - if you can’t make it those days or would like to take advantage of the discount, registrations can be sent via fax, email or mail and now online - but if you need to order shoes or attire we highly recommend coming in those days to beat the rush when classes start and so you’ll have everything for the first class. Monthly Tuition - all ages – first hour per week = $45/mo. – each additional hour is $20/mo. (family discounts are available on tuition – email for details) Costume Fees - $80 each - if your child has 3 or fewer costumes, your costume payments will be divided in 2 payments over Oct. & Nov. - if your child has 4 or more costumes, they will be divided in 3 payments over Oct., Nov., & Dec. Rhinestone Fee - all tap & jazz classes (excluding the primary level) will have a $35 rhinestone fee for jewelry (this will be divided with the costume payments) - this is a rental fee; you have the option to purchase the rhinestones for $80 - we do use the same jewelry every year Recital Fee - $100 one child, $60 second child, $35 third child, fourth child is free (will be split in 2 payments – Jan. & Feb.) Recital Tights - $12.00 (plus tax) all sizes (ballet dances will need a pink pair as well) (will be billed in January) – you must order at least one pair of each color required Finale T-shirts - $20 (will be billed in March) – every person in the recital must have one Late Fees – bills are due by the 5th of each month – a $5 late fee will be included for each week of each month late – after 3 weeks late, your child may not participate in class $25 fee on 1st NSF check and cash only after Dance Attire Tan tights and plain black leotard for all ages (the only exception is black fitted hot shorts) – this rule will be strictly enforced. This includes the technique classes. Hip-Hop classes do not have a dress code but they must wear something that allows them to move freely. All attire may be purchased from the studio. We have themed “Free Dress Weeks” one week a month. They may wear other dance attire on those weeks (no street clothes or t-shirts). The schedule will be in your student handbook. Hair must be pulled back in a ponytail or bun for all classes. NO GUM IN CLASS. Shoes Because our shoes match the tights we use for recital perfectly and are a brand that are not sold locally, all shoes must be purchased through the studio to ensure they match in recital. We size your child to get the correct fit and our prices are very competitive with local retailers with comparable brands. Recital The recital will be held at the The LSU Union Theater on Saturday, April 23, 2016 @ 10:00am. The rehearsal will be on Friday, April 22, 2016 @ 5:00pm. General Information Competition: Auditions will be on July 30, 2015 @ 6:00pm. They are open to everyone ages 5 (by Dec. 31) & up. You will have to attend the summer ballet & jazz/contemporary workshop to audition. There will be a review class before auditions from 5:30-6:00pm. The auditions are free but you will need to notify us anytime before July 30th if you will be auditioning. Please contact us for details about competition. Fundraisers: We will have at least two fundraisers throughout the year. These are only for those who wish to participate. No one will be required to sell anything. You will receive more information on this later in the year. Conventions: We will select several students each year to attend a convention with us. You will receive more information on the cost and dates if your child is chosen to participate. We are very excited about this upcoming year and look forward to teaching your child.
