Cluj-Napoca and surroundings 1. Half day City tour: Cluj-Napoca – The heart of Transylvania (available on the 27th – 09:00 am; on the 30th of May – 01:00pm) Today, you will focus on Cluj-Napoca, the second largest city in Romania. Here, you will take part in a tour where you will learn about three different historical periods: the Early German period, Hungarian Baroque period and Austrian period. The tour includes a visit to Matei Corvin House, St. Michael Church and the old street Via Luporum and of course you cannot miss the Botanical Garden in May, one of the largest and most beautiful in Europe. Walking tour rate: 30 EUR/tour/person (guide & entrances included), minimum 3 persons 2. Half day Tour: On the footsteps of the Habsburgs – Turda Salt Mine (available on the 30th of May; departure at 01:00 pm from the Conference Venue) In this tour you will go to Turda - one of the most important economic centers in the region during the Austrian domination. You will start with a walk to the city center and visit the Roman Catholic Church, dating from the 15th century. Salt, also known as "white gold" was extracted here for 2,000 years. You will visit the Turda salt mine, dating from the 13th century, which suffered strong changes in the 18th century during Austrian domination. The tour ends with departure to Cluj-Napoca.
