ABOUT NICE, FRANCE
Nice la Belle (Nice the Beautiful), located on the French Riviera, is said to be one of the oldest human settlements in Europe.
For decades now, the picturesque Nicean surroundings, with its sunny and temperate climate, attract visitors
from around the world seeking inspiration. The clear air and soft light has been of particular appeal to some
of Western culture’s most outstanding painters and artists, including Marc Chagall, Henri Matisse, Niki de Saint
Phalle, Jean Tinguely and Arman.
Their work is commemorated in many of the city’s museums, including Musée Marc Chagall, Musée Matisse,
Musée des Beaux-Arts and Musee d’Art Moderne.
The city’s secret passages leading to narrow pedestrian laneways in the romantic old town, lingering over the
sights and scents of the colorful flower and produce markets. Exploring the ruins of the ancient Roman city of
Cemenelum and the many pearls of this wonderful city in the French Riviera, promises a mesmerizing stay and
wonderful setting for Networking with colleagues.

AWARENESS RUN
ESGO Run to Raise Awareness about Gynaecological Cancers
The European Society of Gynaecology Oncology (ESGO) believes that early detection, improved risk predictors
and better prevention will make a difference. ESGO is confident that investment in education will give women
with cancer the best possible care. Having this in mind and as the leading Europe´s learning society in gynaecological cancers, ESGO has set up strategic goals in education, research, care, collaboration and awareness.
Raising public and governmental awareness about gynaecological cancers, their prevention and treatments and
developing interactions with interaction with public consumers and has been defined as one of priorities of ESGO.
What the public should know:
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
Cancers of the breast, ovary, cervix and uterus are claiming the lives of one woman in Europe every 4 minutes.
By 2015, 4% of the population in developed countries will be cancer survivors.
The incidence of endometrial cancer has risen by 25% in 10 years.
Screening reduces incidence and mortality but has only been established in 16 EU countries.
Vaccination rates for cervical cancer prevention vary widely across Europe.
The incidence of vulvar cancer is rising in younger women.
Ovarian cancer is now established as a group of diseases requiring individualized management.
Women´s obesity, alcoholism and unhealthy lifestyles directly impact the genital cancer incidence.
The ESGO Congress Challenge – 5km Run is a sporting event open to public aiming to:
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
Raise awareness of the public about gynaecological cancers, and promote healthy life style which directly affect the gynaecological cancer incidents
Drive participation from local and regional residents in the proposed ESGO Congress Run with the aim to create a legacy and create awareness in the host city of Nice amongst the local community, and also regionally and nationally through media opportunities
Create opportunity for ESGO to engage with the public interested in the aims and mission of the Society
Raise awareness of ESGO, its work and its plans to host the European Gynaecology Oncology Congress 2015 in Nice amongst the local and regional community
Add a corporate social responsibility objective as a new dimension to the congress outcomes
Create an opportunity for professionals, public, patients, industry, suppliers and buyers all to interact and bond in an informal and stimulating environment
Extend the reach of the Congress’s impact
Create new sponsorship opportunities for Industry supporters and raise funds for charity
The concrete target is to drive participation from local and regional residents in the run together with congress
participants with the aim of building awareness directly with the community and also regionally and nationally
through media opportunities.

EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT OPPORTUNITIES
EDUCATIONAL GRANTS
Medical education plays an important role in the quality of healthcare delivered across the globe. ESGO
International meetings provide an important scientific and educational content that is developed, presented at
the meeting, recorded, repackaged and diffused after the congress within the framework of ESGO eAcademy
- the official ePortal of ESGO. ESGO is seeking industry partners who share our commitment to educational
excellence and support ESGO’s educational initiatives through educational grants together with traditional commercial sponsorship.
By providing an educational grant in support of the educational opportunities below, you are making a
vital contribution to our efforts to deliver high quality education and improve training for all healthcare professionals working in the field of gynaecological cancer in Europe.
All educational grants are managed in compliance with relevant accreditation and industry compliance
criteria. In order to ensure independence of all CME accredited elements, companies providing grants
may not influence the topic, speaker selection, or any other aspect of the content or presentation. No
promotional, commercial, or advertising materials may be included in the following opportunities. All support will be disclosed to participants.
SUPPORT OF EDUCATIONAL SESSIONS
Educational grants of any amount, whether for the overall program or for individual sessions, are appreciated and important to the success of the event.

WEBCASTS OF KEY EDUCATIONAL SESSIONS
Attending all congresses, not to mention all sessions, is impossible for the busy medical professional.
Therefore there is a growing need to share knowledge and learning opportunities beyond the dates
of the actual event. High quality webcasting helps meet this substantial educational need, extend the
life of the congress and provide valuable online educational material for the ESGO eAcademy. The opportunity
to support individual scientific sessions selected by companies and their webcasting, or the entire scientific programme will allow partners to connect with ESGO2015 participants as well as with eAcademy viewers each
month throughout 2015&2016 as the content is released.
Prior and during the congress:
• All support will be recognized in the Industry Support and Exhibition section of the program guide, on the
event website, and with signage during the event (slides at hall prior the webcasted session)
