This innovative programme has been designed, piloted and
developed by a team of musculoskeletal ultrasound experts
to train a range of healthcare professionals in the safe use of
ultrasound in the diagnosis of musculoskeletal conditions. The
programme is aimed at podiatrists who wish to gain competency
in musculoskeletal diagnostic ultrasound. The teaching faculty
includes medical experts with considerable expertise and
experience in diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound.

Course Aim
The aim of the programme is to educate and train musculoskeletal
practitioners in the safe and competent use of diagnostic
ultrasound imaging in the visualisation and interpretation
of musculoskeletal conditions. Specifically, the programme
will train practitioners in the safe and accurate acquisition
of ultrasound images in the examination of musculoskeletal
conditions, and in using these images together with the medical
history in making accurate and competent patient management
decisions.

Stage 2: Two one-day regional Tutorial/Master-classes where
experts will teach delegates in small groups the essential
ultrasound skills using ‘normal’ subjects and patients with
demonstrable pathology.

Course Details
This intensive programme is in two stages:
Each tutorial/master-class will include prosection of relevant
anatomical specimens, 3D anatomy modeling and practical
demonstrations of equipment and scanning skills.
All delegates must attend the introductory two day Seminar.
Thereafter, delegates may choose to do all or some of the Tutorial/
Master-classes. On completion of the programme, delegates may
transfer to an MSc in Musculoskeletal Ultrasound (lower limb).
