THE FEAST WORLDWIDE
We are thrilled to have you at the table as a Host for The Feast Worldwide!
Feast dinners are action-oriented events that empower and inspire. For our global community, we’ve developed a
toolkit highlighting the key ingredients that go into making a successful dinner. Allow this to serve as a guide while
you prepare to host your own Feast.
This is designed with you in mind. We encourage you to engage the amazing and talented people throughout your
network, apply their unique perspective to social challenges, and build a community of abundance that can change
the world.
Let’s get started!
A CHALLENGE TOPIC
1.
What’s in
Every
Feast?
The conversation only
begins at the table - the
relationships and actions
your attendees make after
the dinner makes all the
difference in the world.
Frame your dinner around a giant possibility by
posing a question for how the world could be.
There are lots of problems in the world, but seeing
things as opportunities invites the potential to do
something about it.
Have each attendee share their
unique superpower. Everyone is
powerful and possesses
extraordinary talents,
perspectives and resources.
A GUEST OF HONOR
A CALL TO ACTION
By using their superpowers,
what is one thing each person
can commit to do that will
create change and
opportunity?
THE FEAST WORLDWIDE
SUPERPOWERS
Invite a keynote who can share their
expertise on the topic you’ve chosen.
Allow them to provide contextual
background on the issue, and inspire
your attendees by sharing how they
have been directly impacted by the
opportunity at hand.
2.
Step 1:
Get the
Party
Started
Pick a date and location for your dinner
Brainstorm a topic and potential guest of honor
Contact and confirm guest of honor’s availability
Create an event page invite (Facebook, Eventbrite, etc.)
THE FEAST WORLDWIDE
Send out invitations to your guests!
3.
Step 2:
Get Ready &
Excited!
Contact speaker to discuss their speaking points and the overall flow of a dinn
Prepare a question to address over dinner that relates to your topic. Make
sure to pose the question as how you’d like the future to be; not as an
insurmountable problem, but as an opportunity to tackle a challenge
Prepare the materials you would like to have on hand for the event. We
recommend post-its or notecards for people to write their commitments on
at the end of dinner.
Send a reminder email to your guests about the event

Do a little dance - just for kicks!

Remember to take photos! (Of food, happy
people, and everyone’s commitment cards at the
end of the dinner).
Here’s a basic idea for how to run an action-oriented Feast-y dinner. Feel free to g

Step 4:
What to do
the Night-of
Allow everyone to share and
apply their super-power
THE FEAST WORLDWIDE
Tackle an issue you care about
Take Action!

Step 4:
What to do
the Night-of
(cont.)
Kick it off
THE FEAST WORLDWIDE
Let everyone get settled and choose their dinner order. Let the server come in and take orders first.
Introductions
5.
•
Invite everyone to get settled and present
Introduce The Feast and your intention for gathering everyone for the evening.
•
Going around the table, have the attendees answer the following:
•
Step 4:
What to do
the Night-of
(cont.)
•
Who are they?
•
What their unique super-power or perspective is that they are bringing to the table?
•
What was the first time an experience with your topic changed the way they see the
world?
The Topic
Introduce the question that you’ll be digging into over the course of dinner.
•  Ex: “The rest of the evening we will be digging into a challenge together. We wanted to
tackle this question but not from a place riddled with challenges but to think from the
perspective of how we'd like things to be and what is possible. Which is why we
designed the topic for today as: ___? ”What experience do you have with the topic at
hand and what is your take on the question?
THE FEAST WORLDWIDE

Step 4:
What to do
the Night-of
(cont.)
Introduce the guest of honor
Let everyone know why you chose them. Invite them to share the insight they bring to the table and to
take the first crack at the question for the evening. (Your guest can talk as much as you like but we
recommend about 5-10 minutes)
Open up the table to share their perspective on the question
If the conversation slows down, invite everyone to turn to the 2 - 4 people around them. Invite
everyone to keep answering the question. After about 15 minutes, invite each group to report back
what they came up with

Step 4:
What to do
the Night-of
(cont.)
Closing the dinner
Invite each person to think of one action they’d like to take leaving the dinner. It can be super small or
really big, but the goal is to leave with one thing to do. Go around the table and invite each person to
share their action.
•
THE FEAST WORLDWIDE
Ex: “The Feast is all about action so we ask you to take a moment to share one action
you'd like to take as a result of this evening. Whether it's meet someone in this room for
coffee, or try a new innovation.”

Step 5:
After Your
Dinner
Upload photos to The Feast Worldwide
Flickr and/or post to social media and
tag us (@feastongood,
#feastworldwide)
Send a thank you email to
attendees and guest of honor
!
I will commit to…
Tell us what commitments people
came up with (via email, twitter, or
photos of them & their post-its).

your experience? We would love to

Invite people to take an action. Conversation is great but giving people a
chance to actually think about and write down what they can do about the issue
can spark collaborations, personal reflection, and a lot more change in the
world.

Additional
Tips &
Tricks
We’ve learned a thing or two
over the years about how to
host a great action-oriented
dinner. Here are some
guiding principles that can
help you facilitate the best
event!
THE FEAST WORLDWIDE
Give Context. Giving people background information that they might not have
known about is helpful for having a rich conversation. Send interesting links,
videos and other conversation starters before the dinner.
Small Groups for Next Steps. Invite people to team up on next steps. Whether
it’s a small group that wants to do something about the opportunity, or who want
to reconnect to plan the next dinner, send a follow-up email capturing what
people want to do next to help build momentum!
Set Expectations. Are you all excited to get down and dirty and come up an
answer over dinner? Or are you just getting to know the issue to figure out what
you can do? Help people understand what you’d like to see some of the
evening so that they can respond accordingly.
Help everyone be heard. Some people are most introverted than others. Give
everyone a chance to speak by designing activities that give each individual a
chance to reflect, have one-on-one conversations, or call on people who haven’t
spoken to give them the table.

Additional
Tips &
Tricks
(cont.)
Get Personal. You may be talking about a big issue but you’re about the
people at the dinner first. Invite your guests to get to know each other (and the
topic) that way.
THE FEAST WORLDWIDE
Have fun! Nothing says dinner party like laughter, good food, and good
company. The above is all meant to help create a supportive atmosphere. Feel
free to add your own flair and remember to have fun!
8.
Congratulations!
You’ve not only hosted a
dinner, you’ve joined a
movement of thousands of
Feasters around taking
action to build the future we
want.
