ABOUT US
First Local Toledo is a “Buy Local” business organization serving Toledo and surrounding communities.
Our members sponsor First Local Toledo News our hard copy newsletter that is distributed at over 300 local businesses. In January of
2015 we launched FLT News, our online business news channel, which allows us to provide video news coverage of local business
events. Think of us as a combination of a chamber of commerce, business newspaper and local TV station with the theme of helping
local charities and businesses. To view our latest articles, columns and clips visit our Facebook page.
To contact us call (419) 330-9658 or email FirstLocalToledoNews@gmail.com

Keep your business in the headlines.
Free space in our newsletter is offered to members and non-members for publishing articles related to news events. Any locally-owned
business or local charity is welcome to submit a press release or call us and we will write the article: NO CHARGE – NO MEMBERSHIP
REQUIRED! We will also publish the articles to the First Local Toledo Facebook page and our website. Our goal is to share the good
news of local business throughout our community. Below are listed examples of news events:
CHARITY EVENT: Serenity Health & Wellness Center
sponsors 4th annual charity event
Serenity Health and Wellness Center united with Spicy Tuna Sushi Bar & Grill to give
back to charity—and pamper participants as well. In the fourth annual Sexy Food,
Sexy Body, Sexy Lifestyle event, the two organizations went all out with all you could
eat sushi and wine-tasting, donating proceeds and gathering together community
members to support the Hands 2 Help charity.
ANNIVERSARY: Functionally Active Fitness
in Sylvania celebrates 5 year anniversary
At Functionally Active Fitness, owner Eric Lemkin has organized his gym into a
sort of small, personal classroom. For him, it’s all about the personal touch, giving
every attendee an experience that will stick and work for their own situation, and
with class sizes of four to 10 people, it’s allowed him to maintain a high level of
one-on-one attention with his clients.
WINNING AN AWARD: Toledo’s American Floors and Interiors
wins award from Fortune Magazine
In a contest run by Fortune Magazine, Toledo’s own American Floors and Interior
has been named the 11th fastest growing company located in an inner city,
following a nationwide hunt. What’s more, according to its president, Gary
Johnson, it’s the number one company in the contest’s construction category.
BUSINESS EXPANSION: Irving Equipment in Tiffin
gears up for $4 million expansion
Irving Equipment is moving on up in the Tiffin area, expanding their operating
space by around 32,000 square feet. Though they have done well on the six acres
they already had, the nature of their business is one of spacious projects—that
business being the concrete pump business.
SALES INCREASE: New Chick-fil-A in Holland opens strong,
with Q1 sales 15% higher than anticipated
Most businesses have their pre-startup expectations, but in every regard, Holland’s
new Chick-fil-A, and its owner/operator Justin Amburgey have blown their own
expectations out of the water. In the last three months their efforts have put sales
and patronage at a 15 percent heavier growth than even Chick-fil-A’s corporate
researchers expected, according to Justin.

Celebrating employees of local business!
EMPLOYEE RECOGNITION ARTICLES: We feel very strongly about not only
supporting local businesses, but also the people that work locally. ERAs will
show your employees how valuable they are to you and our community. These
articles have a very high rate of likes and shares on Facebook, which leads to
an increase in page likes and website hits.
NEW HIRE: Perrysburgers welcomes new chef in Dana Doremus-Lynch.
Perrysburgers is set for a grand reopening come March, this time with a new chef
and manager: Dana Doremus-Lynch. With her will be coming a return to oldschool Perrysburger, meaning a return to a full service restaurant and most of the
old burgers, albeit with Dana’s own particular twist and style on their delivery.
PROMOTION: Emily Johnson promoted to sales manager at Clean Team

Made In Ohio
In February of 2015 we started our MADE IN OHIO series whereby we travel all over our state
touring businesses from a wide variety of industries that have a long history in Ohio. All the
articles and videos will be easily accessible and searchable on our MADE IN OHIO directory. We
feel this will be a great resource for businesses considering expanding to Ohio.

“Solutions” Video Series
We produce and publish a video series for each of our members; local TV and
radio stations have a variety of similar production offerings. Currently we have
four categories: Health Solutions, Home Solutions, Business Solutions and
Financial Solutions. Members share specific issues they have helped their clients,
customers or patients resolve and we format into a Q&A TV news style video.
The videos are then published online and posted to Facebook. Videos are
tagged, indexed and archived to be valuable, long-term Internet search items.

Would you like to start a “First Local” organization in your area?
A First Local organization combines the aspects of a chamber of commerce,
a newspaper and a local TV station.
Many chambers lack tangible ROI member benefits. Small businesses can be ignored by local newspapers
unless they are advertisers and smaller communities are missing out on their own personalized and local TV
news coverage. Starting a First Local organization can fill those voids. For more information contact us today!
