Special Announcement: WACC Board announces Building Stronger fund for the construction of the Washington Pride Plaza & the Community Spirit Sculpture... Don’t Miss the Exciting Announcement on Page 4! Beginning April 1st the pool will be closed for 2-4 weeks. We have no choice but to do this as our Dectron System needs to be redesigned and have repairs made to it. The Dectron unit is what controls the humidity in the Aquatic area. It is for that reason that we have to do it in a month that is not too cold or too hot. Peoria Pops Orchestra A Night On Broadway Sunday, March 22, 2015 @ 4pm Tickets: $12/Adults, $10 Seniors & $8/ Students POINT A summer month is not an option. After the completion of a structural engineering study, it was determined that the original design of the unit is flawed. As it is now, only the bottom 60% of the walls are being covered by the Dectron Unit. This is causing potential structural integrity issues with the top 40% of the walls and ceiling. The humidity is not being dissipated properly for that entire area. In order to correct this and properly care for the aquatics area, the Dectron unit has been redesigned. This redesign will also decrease the level of noise coming from the Dectron unit which has been an issue as well. The pool must be closed during installation. While the pool is closed, we will also be doing repairs to the plaster lining in the pools and painting to avoid having to close the pool at another time. During this time, all aquatics only members have two options. You may either have access to the entire facility or freeze your membership without paying the $5 charge. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause, but it is unavoidable. -Vikki Poorman, General Manager HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO OUR EMPLOYEES March We are excited to announce the construction of the Washington Pride Plaza featuring the Community Spirit sculpture, a previously publicized donation to the community of Washington. The goal is to have the Plaza completed in time to receive the sculpture in 2015. The Plaza will be constructed on the South Side of Five Points Washington, and will recognize and commemorate the rebuilding of the community after the tornado of November 17, 2013. The Plaza will include a seating area with bricks salvaged from the destruction along with personalized "Building Stronger" bricks. “Building Stronger” bricks can be reserved for a donation of $250 and can be personalized (according to size parameters) to recognize the countless residents, volunteers, businesses, and first responders who came together to find strength and rebuild.
