The Haptic Dimension Uncovered Extant, Haunted Pliers and The Open University invite you to Flatland Research Dissemination Event Debating the results of a ground-breaking experiment in performance, supported by the Digital R&D Fund for the Arts When: Time: Where: 29th April 2015 2.00-5.30pm Theatre Delicatessen 119 Farringdon Road, London, EC1R 3ER Pictured left: participant holding haptic navigation device The event will include: Presentation of the project and key findings of the Flatland experimental installation (March 2015). This large-scale, pitch-black installation used haptic technology – the science of communicating by touch – to guide 100 participants through an immersive world of sensation and sound. Live demo of the Flatland haptic navigation tech. Panel discussion with the project design team and consultants. We will also be opening up the debate inspired by Flatland around alternative access within art and cultural environments, by posing key questions for discussion with the event audience.
