FRIENDSHIP BAPTIST CHURCH MAY, 2015 VOLUME 9, ISSUE 5 NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER is Thursday, May 7. See inside for a helpful prayer guide. AWANA BBQ & AWARDS Celebrate our kids and enjoy a BBQ dinner, Wednesday, May 6th, at 6:00 p.m. MISSIONS BUSINESS MTG will be held Sunday, May 17. UPDATES INSIDE ON: Faith Promise Commitments Summer Camps Sanctuary Chairs May Events From a Wife, a Mother, and a Nana’s Heart As I reflect over my life, the three most important roles God has allowed me to fill are those of being a Wife, a Mother, and a Nana (aka grandmother). Outside of my relationship with God, nothing else in my life has been more important or rewarding. I have loved being a “momma,” through the tears and smiles, the struggles and victories–it has all been worthwhile. Even though my children are now adults, they will still be my “kiddos” that I consistently bring before the throne of God. God has recently brought a granddaughter, Amelia Joy, into our family. As I ponder on my part in this precious life and in her brother’s lives (Myles Andrew and Ames Eli), I am aware of not only supporting their parents, but also the importance of instilling a love for God and His Word in them. God brings to my mind Lois, the grandmother of Timothy, and the impact she had on shaping his life for the Lord (2 Timothy 1:5, 3:14-15). That is a desire of mine also. My dream is to be the loving and fun “Nana from Montana,” but ultimately that my grandchildren know their Nana loves God and desires to see them come to a saving knowledge of Him! Thank you, Father God, for allowing me to be a Wife, a Mother, and a Nana. Ladies, wherever you are in your life, if it be a wife, then be the best wife you can be to your husband. Be his biggest cheerleader. If it is a mother, then take that responsibility seriously, as God has entrusted your child(ren) to you. “Keepers at home” (Titus 2:5) is a reminder that your home should be the first place they learn about God. Lastly, if you are a Nana, it is not time to step back and let your children do all the spiritual instructing. You, as well, can help in that training. Be a Lois! Happy Mother’s Day, ladies! Enjoy those precious gifts God has given you! III John :4–“I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.” From a Nana’s heart, Cathy Klass AWANA AWARD CEREMONY & BBQ | MAY 6TH On Wednesday, May 6th, at 6:00 p.m., we’ll be providing a BBQ dinner prior to the AWANA Award Ceremony. The church will provide the meat and we’re asking families to bring a side dish, chips, or dessert to share. Join us in cheering for our kids and the amount of Scripture they memorized this year. NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER | MAY 7TH Along with the inserted National Day of Prayer Guide, you can join in a couple of local events on Thursday, May 7th. There will be a special prayer service on the north steps of the Capitol from noon to 1:00 p.m. that is open to the public. Each county is also holding scripture reading and prayer events that you can participate in. Find your county’s event info at montanaprayer.com. We encourage you to be in prayer for your community, state, country, and its leaders on May 7th. MOTHER’S DAY PHOTO OPP | MAY 10TH please contact Diane Polly. Sunday, May 10th, is Mother’s Day. In lieu of gifts or flowers, this year we are offering a free family portrait to FBC moms. If you are interested, please sign up at the Visitor Center. Portraits will be taken before and after service in the old sanctuary on Mother’s Day. If you have questions, NOT A FAN | BEGINNING MAY 13 The definition of a fan is an enthusiastic admirer. In the Gospels, Jesus never seemed too interested in fans. Is that how you define your relationship with Him? An “enthusiastic admirer?" Close enough to Jesus to get the benefits but not so close to require sacrifice? He was looking for followers. Not just any follower though, but a COMPLETELY. COMMITTED. FOLLOWER. Maybe you’re ready to join the hundreds of people who have stepped across a line and said: I am not a fan. Join us at 7:00 p.m., on Wednesday nights for six weeks starting May 13th, as this adult study looks at the difference between being a fan and a completely committed disciple of Christ. We need YOU to help us get the church building and grounds ready for the spring/summer season. Come give us a couple hours of your time on Saturday, May 16th, starting at 9:00 a.m. and we’ll provide lunch. Please bring work gloves and yard tools, if you have them. Thank you in advance for helping maintain your church! Join us in welcoming the Warrens who will be presenting their ministry in our Sunday morning service on May 3rd. Eldon and Brenda Warren are the founders of Seedlings Ministry. They met at Baptist Bible College and have been married 30 years come July. They have three grown children and travel across the United States sharing encouragement and support for local churches. Seedlings Ministry has a three-prong purpose in providing support to churches and missionaries in the following ways 1) Bible-led Curriculum 2) An integrated Children’s Ministry Program and 3) Practical support of Children’s Ministry endeavors. They carry out the Great Commission, given to us by Jesus in Matthew 28:18-20, by integrating Believers, of all ages and stages, into meaningful ministry and providing Bible-led curriculum that helps “teach them to observe all things that I have commanded you,” resulting in strong and committed disciples of Jesus Christ. FLIGHT 8:36 Flight 8:36 will be with us again on Sunday, May 31st, and performing a concert that morning. We enjoyed their music last year, and you won’t want to miss this encouraging and uplifting group. Stay tuned for more details... ARTISTIC OPPORTUNITY If you enjoy kids, music, and drama, we have the perfect opportunity for you to exercise your creative side! We’re looking for a director for our kids’ Christmas program which needs to go into preproduction in late summer. Every director also needs volunteers to help with corralling kids, costumes, etc. If you are interested in filling one of these roles, please see Ellen Blalock for more information and lots of resources for the upcoming program. SANCTUARY CHAIRS UPDATE Due to the strike of longshore workers in Los Angeles and the shutdown of a textile mill, our chairs have been delayed by two months. While this has been frustrating, it could turn out to be a blessing through a discount offered on the finished product. Thank you for your patience in waiting for the final step to finishing our new sanctuary. AWANA TRAINING There will be training for AWANA workers during the month of August on Wednesday nights from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. You are cordially invited to the wedding of Elijah Ticknor and Kasi Stump Saturday, May 23rd 5:00 p.m. This is a casual potluck-style wedding with lots of food, socializing, and activities for the kids. Dress casually and bring a side dish to share. Please RSVP by May 9th at 406-475-3357. MISSIONS CONFERENCE UPDATE Coming off a month of celebrating our missionaries and considering our part in world missions, we’re happy to pass on that Faith Promise Commitments through Sunday, April 26th, total $72,337.60! God is good...all the time! We’re thankful for the families who have partnered with FBC to see the Gospel go around the globe.
