Paddle for the Great Swamp
May 16th (rain date May 17th), 2015
This 7-mile half-day downstream paddle starts at Patterson
Environmental Park and ends at Green Chimneys. Celebrate at the
Pavilion with a barbeque, live music, prizes, and festivities!
Registration fee is $55.00. Pre-registration must be received at the address below no later than
May 8th and is non-refundable. We will make every attempt to reschedule in the event of high or low
water or inclement weather. Download forms from www.frogs-ny.com. Space is limited - check Website
and Facebook for availability. We encourage you to use our sponsorship packets to get your friends
involved! Many corporations have matching funds. The Silver Frog award goes to the person/team that
raises the most funds!
Important: This is for experienced paddlers. While there are no rapids, there may be beaver dams and
downed trees to negotiate. Please bring a clean boat to protect our waterway.

Launching will be staggered from 8:30-10:00 AM at the Patterson Recreation Center (Front Street). Boaters will register, drop off their
Kayak or canoe, then park near the Center. Shuttles will be provided. Paddle will end at Green Chimneys where you will be met by
music, lunch, prizes and fun!
Registration fee is $ 55.00. Pre-registration must be received at the address below no later than May 8 th and is nonrefundable. Please remember to include your signed liability form (in this packet)! We will make every attempt to
reschedule in the event of high or low water or inclement weather. Space is limited. Check website or Facebook for availability. We
encourage you to use the sponsorship page (in this packet) to get your friends involved! Many corporations also have matching funds.
The Silver Frog award will go to the person/team that raises the most funds. There is cell service in most of the swamp. Please bring a
clean boat to protect our waterway.
Rules and Regulations:

Important: Paddlers should be experienced and have good paddling skills. While there are no rapids, there may be beaver
dams and downed trees to negotiate

Entrants must be over 12 years of age in order to participate; entrants ages 12-15 MUST paddle with a guardian 21 or older
and those 16-18 may paddle tandem with another in that age bracket. A legal guardian MUST be available at the starting
line and the finish line and MUST sign the release form.

Paddlers must provide their own safety equipment and must wear a USCG-approved Personal Flotation Device (PFD)
FrOGS will provide a safety whistle which must be accessible in each boat.

Paddlers may encounter otter, mink, beaver, turtles, herons and other wildlife – waterproof cameras are suggested.
No alcohol is permitted. Anyone who appears to be under the influence of alcohol or other drugs will be escorted off river.

In consideration of being allowed to participate in any way in the UNITED STATES CANOE ASSOCIATION athletic sports program, related events and activities, the undersigned acknowledges, appreciates, and agrees that:
The risk of injury from the activities involved in this program is significant, including the potential for permanent paralysis and death;
and while particular rules, equipment, and personal discipline may reduce this risk, the risk of serious injury does exist; and,
I KNOWINGLY AND FREELY ASSUME ALL SUCH RISKS, both known and unknown, EVEN IF ARISING FROM THE NEGLIGENCE OF THE RELEASEES or others and assume full responsibility for my participation; and,
I willingly agree to comply with the stated and customary terms and conditions for participation. If, however, I observe any unusual or
significant hazard during my presence or participation, I will remove myself from participation and bring such hazard to the attention
of the nearest official immediately; and,
I, for myself and on behalf of my heirs, assigns, personal representatives and next of kin, HEREBY RELEASE AND HOLD HARMLESS the UNITED STATES CANOE ASSOCIATION and _________________________________________________

lightning safety, and that I have read the US CA sanctioning guidelines and will attend the pre-event/pre-race meeting.
I also acknowledge that photographs and video may be taken of me in my participation in and attendance at this event, and hereby
freely agree to allow without restriction all uses of such photos and videos in the reporting of this race, and/or in the promotion of this
event, its location, other sporting events, sport in general, and/or related purposes.
I HAVE READ THIS RELEASE OF LIABILITY AND AS SUMPTION OF RISK AGREEMENT, FULLY UNDERSTAND ITS
