The Orientation meeting takes place at the triOS Campus, and you will be welcomed by triOS staff. There is a great deal of important information that is covered at the Orientation and attendance is mandatory. Campus Director Welcome Meeting Campus Directors are available for a personal meeting with all new International Students prior to your start date. You will receive personal tour of the campus and Campus Directors can answer any questions that you may have. Once you have completed your enrolment, please contact your Campus Director by phone or email to schedule your Welcome Meeting. Airport Pick-up Students who are securing accommodations through The Canada Homestay Network, will have airport pick-up service available through the Canada Homestay Network. Health Insurance Requirement All triOS International students, who start full time diploma programs after January 1, 2015, will be provided with standard healthcare insurance for the duration of their study period. Health insurance coverage is a mandatory requirement for international students. (Government-funded healthcare is not provided to international students.) Health insurance coverage is also a mandatory requirement for spouses and dependent children who are accompanying or visiting an international student. The student is responsible for arranging this for his/her spouse and dependent children. The Ontario Council of Agencies Serving Immigrants’ website www.settlement.org is an excellent resource for newcomers to Canada. The information that they provide is applicable to international students in many cases. ACADEMIC SUPPORT English as a Second Language Support All triOS classes are taught entirely in English. It is expected that students are capable of studying in English prior to starting their studies. All international students must meet the English entrance requirements prior to being accepted into their program. For students who want to further improve their English proficiency, we can help arrange for ESL training with local ESL training institutions. If you are interested in ESL courses, please contact your Campus Director who will help arrange ESL support for you. These services are offered by third party partners and additional fees may be required (paid directly to the third party ESL trainer). Tutoring Tutoring is available to all students. Both peer tutors and professional tutors are available to assist students who require additional one-on-one support outside of regular class times. There may be additional fees for tutoring. Please contact your Campus Director to arrange for a tutor to assist you with your studies. STUDY PERMITS AND VISAS Study Permit Requirement Students must have a valid Visa that allows them to enter and study in Canada. For programs that are less than 6 months in duration, generally students may study at triOS if they have a valid temporary resident Visa that does not expire prior to the study period end date. Passport Requirement Students must have a valid passport with an expiry date that is later than their last day of studies at triOS. Students must provide a copy of their passport, showing an expiry date that is later than their last day of studies, prior to starting their program.
