GOGLA seeks: Senior Communications Adviser The off-grid lighting and appliances industry has experienced rapid market growth in the last years and provided millions of households living beyond the electrical grid with life transforming access to energy. Despite the industry’s efforts and success, a quarter of the world population is still lacking basic access to energy. The Global Off-Grid Lighting Association (GOGLA) acts as the industry advocate supporting the industry in growing and strengthening the market for clean, quality off-grid lighting and electrical systems. With its advocacy and communication work, GOGLA seeks to realize international recognition for the benefits of off-grid lighting and sector-wide industry support. To strengthen its role as the voice of the industry, GOGLA is seeking a Senior Communications Adviser who will be responsible for coordinating GOGLA’s communication and advocacy work. The Senior Communications Adviser will work closely with, and provide guidance to, a full-time junior communications officer. Variable input under a consulting contract may be acceptable. The Senior Communications Adviser will be responsible for: Providing guidance for the successful marketing and communication of various GOGLA events, including the 4th international off-grid lighting conference and exhibition (Oct 2015, >700 people expected). Advising in, and coordinating on GOGLA’s behalf, the development and execution of an ambitious sector-wide advocacy campaign in cooperation with GOGLA partners. Securing sponsors for the 4th international off-grid lighting conference and exhibition. Guiding the implementation of GOGLA’s marketing and communication strategy, increasing GOGLA’s exposure to the relevant stakeholders through targeted public relations activities. Occasionally representing and advocating GOGLA’s vision and mission at international events and conferences. Continuously extending GOGLA’s stakeholder network and building lasting relationships. Qualifications of the Successful Candidate: A high level of passion for GOGLA’s mission and objectives. A minimum of five years progressively responsible experience in the field of communication, marketing, and advocacy. Excellent and proven networking, communication, and presentation skills in English and French; additional languages are considered an asset. Experienced with the design of precise and meaningful messages for different target audiences, using a variety of communication platforms and tools. Solid track record in fundraising. Ability to think strategically and work creatively. Ability to convince big and small audiences in an inspiring manner. Experience with working within an international organization. Experience in the development cooperation and / or energy access sector is highly desired. Ability to facilitate meetings and collaborations with diverse stakeholders. Work in a small team.
