GRADUATE ASSISTANTSHIP
The University Career Center is in need of a Master’s or Doctoral-level Graduate Assistant to support advising
and self-assessment efforts serving graduate and undergraduate students at UNC Charlotte. The GA will report
to and support the Senior Assistant Director for Career Assessment in projects and career functions that include:

Assisting our Self-Assessment Team in scoring, reviewing, and co-presenting Myers-Briggs, Strong
Interest Inventory, and FOCUS-2 Workshops to Freshman Seminars and selected classes.

Advising students on career development, especially liberal arts and undeclared majors, through drop-in
appointments.
·
Facilitating career workshops such as resume writing, interviewing, and job search strategies.
·
Developing and presenting PowerPoint and interactive workshops on specialized topics for targeted
groups such as nontraditional students, international students, transfers, and at-risk students.
·
Research and gather data on career assessment trends and findings to support University Career Center
and campus initiatives related to CCI, QEP, BEST, diversity groups, and ethnic groups.

If time permits, assist with in the classroom and Freshman Seminar presentations at the University
Career Center.
·
Assisting with other career events as assigned, reporting, and researching career development topics as
needed.
REQUIREMENTS: We are seeking doctoral and master’s level Counseling or Psychology/Organizational
Psychology students or doctoral and master’s level students in disciplines with statistical backgrounds, and who
have a strong interest in career counseling and career development, as well as an interest in self-assessments
and working with a college population. Experience with the administration and scoring of assessment
instruments, as well as some experience with the delivery of career assessments, particularly the MBTI and
Strong Interest Inventory, are strongly preferred. The position duration is August 2015 through May 2016, with
the GA working 20 hours per week. Extension to a full-year assistantship is possible for the 2016-17 school
year, as well.
