counselor section on any scholarship application. Please review the
information below.







The Scholarship Coordinator for the 2014-2015 school-year is Mr.
Justin McIntyre, jmcintyre@wcpss.net .
There is a Scholarship Interest form available on-line on the
school website and in hard copy form in student services. ONLY
complete scholarship interest forms when directed to do
so.
You do not need to prepare scholarship interest forms for
scholarships that you may apply to directly. It is the student's
responsibility to send in scholarships that are not school
nominated.
Please pay close attention to internal deadlines for school
nominated scholarships. Interest forms received after the
deadlines may not be processed.
You may ask your assigned counselor for information regarding
scholarships.
Paper copies of some scholarship applications are available in the
scholarship file cabinet in Student Services.
This scholarship newsletter is not an all inclusive list of
scholarship information. It only contains scholarships that we
have actually received at the school. Students are encouraged to
check http://www.scholarshipplus.com/wake/custom.cfm for
more scholarships.
Green Hope High School Fine Arts Boosters (FAB)
Scholarship
The Fine Arts Boosters (FAB) organization is sponsoring three $1,000
scholarships to be awarded to seniors who have been active in the
programs supported by FAB—Chorus, Dance, Drama & Technical
Theatre, Guitar, Orchestra, and Visual Arts — while demonstrating
good character, leadership qualities, and scholarship during their
tenures at GHHS. Applicants will be evaluated by a committee
comprised of three adults including FAB alumni parents and members
of the local arts community.
Criteria for candidacy include: (1) Have received a letter of acceptance
from a vocational school, community college, or 4-year college or
university; (2) Have maintained a “B” or 3.0 grade point average.
Scholarship applications are available in Student Services or on the

All applications must be submitted to Student Services by May 1,
2015.
The North Carolina American Indian Fund Scholarship
The North Carolina American Indian Fund Scholarship assists American
Indian students across the state in obtaining higher education by
providing scholarships to pursue a 2- or 4-year undergraduate degree
as a full-time student. Scholarships are valued at $1,000 per year,
renewable for up to four years, for total awards up to $4,000.

The Sigma Tau Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha
Sorority, Inc. Scholarship
Members of Sigma Tau Omega are pleased to announce the availability
of five (5) $2,500 scholarships. In order to be considered for this
scholarship opportunity candidates must meet the following criteria:
(1) High school seniors who are African-American, or of AfricanAmerican descent, (2) Will graduate with a minimum grade point
average of 3.0 in 2015, (3) Attend Apex, Athens Drive, Cary, FuquayVarina, Green Hope, Holly Springs, Middle Creek, or Panther Creek or
whose primary residence is in Cary, Apex, Holly Springs, Morrisville, or
Fuquay-Varina, (4) Will study full-time at an accredited two or fouryear institution in the fall of 2015.

The Tomorrow Fund For Hispanic Students
The Tomorrow Fund for Hispanic Students provides college
scholarships to immigrant Hispanic youth so they can become
productive, well-educated members of our society. Students must be
receiving institutional funding from his/her post-secondary institution
in order to be eligible to apply.

Triangle Sons of Italy (TSOI) Scholarship
This lodge will provide a $750 scholarship to a student who satisfies
the following criteria: An Italian American student (at least 1/8 Italian)
residing in the immediate Triangle area. Candidate must also enroll in
an accredited college or university in the fall. The application form can
be found on the Lodge website at:

The deadline is May 1, 2015.
Better Business Bureau (BBB) Torch Scholarship
This scholarship program recognizes students who personify high
ethics as demonstrated through leadership, community service, overall
personal integrity and academic excellence. A scholarship prize of
$5,000 will be awarded.
To be eligible, students must submit a 400-500 word essay, along with
an application, transcript and a letter of recommendation from a BBB
Accredited Business. For additional information and the application,

12, 2015.
Friends of the Page-Walker History Scholarship
Applications are now being accepted for the annual Friends of the
Page-Walker History Scholarship, which is awarded to a high school
senior residing in Cary who exhibits an aptitude and interest in the
study of history and humanities.
The $750 award is given to a high school senior who is a Cary
resident, and may be used for any educational-related expenses. In
addition, the recipient’s name will be displayed on a permanent
plaque at the Page-Walker Arts & History Center.

The Raleigh Engineers Club (REC) Scholarship
This scholarship will be awarded to a senior who has been accepted
into the College of Engineering at NC State. The scholarship is valued
at one semester of tuition at the in-state tuition rate.
The candidate selected for 2015 will be determined by a selection
committee of REC members and based on all parts of the application.
Candidates are not selected based on grades only.

Genworth Veterans Forum Scholarship
The Genworth Veterans Forum scholarship provides a $1,000 financial
education award to the child of a current or former member of the U.S.
Military. Scholarships are awarded to students who have exemplified
excellence through their school work and community service. This
scholarship is intended to highlight the achievements of excellent
students and to honor the service of veterans in our community.
Students will be rewarded for their leadership as shown through their
values and actions both in the classroom and in their service to others.
Any high school senior who is the child of an honorably discharged
veteran or current service member and who has demonstrated hard
work in school and in the community is encouraged to apply.
Qualifications: (1) Current high school senior, (2) Must attend a four
year college or university, junior college or trade school in the
upcoming academic year, (3) Must be the child of a veteran who was
honorably discharged from the armed forces or who is still a serving
member of the active or reserve components, (4) Must provide
suitable documentation which established the family member’s service
and honorable discharge status. (DD-214, discharge certificate or
other applicable documents) – PLEASE REDACT ANY SOCIAL SECURITY
NUMBERS FROM THE FORM.

The Chums, Incorporated Founders’ National
Scholarship
This organization will award one National Scholarship of $5,000. Each
local chapter has the opportunity to forward one candidate to the
National level of this competitive award. The Chums Founders’
National Scholarship is a one-time scholarship award for the recipient.
Applicants are encouraged to include any participatory activities
involving services to youth. Volunteer service will strengthen students’
application.

Raleigh Mayor’s Committee for Persons with
Disabilities Scholarship
The Raleigh Mayor’s Committee for Persons with Disabilities will award
two $1,000 scholarships to students with documented disabilities.
Applicants must be residents of the City of Raleigh and must be
enrolled in or have been accepted to an accredited undergraduate post
secondary school, college, trade school or other institution of higher
learning.
Application materials must include official copies of all high school or
(if applicable) undergraduate transcripts and a copy of your college
acceptance letter. Applications and all supporting documents must be
received by May 29, 2015 at 5:00pm.

Raleigh/Apex Branch – National Association for the
Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Scholarship
This $1,000 scholarship is geared towards the student who makes a
strong contribution to the school/community, but may not be in the
top of the class academically. In order to be considered for this
scholarship the candidate must: (1) Need financial aid, (2) Plan to
attend a two or four year institution of higher learning in North
Carolina full-time beginning in the Fall semester of 2015, (3) Have
shown leadership capabilities by participating in school-sponsored
activities and/or community volunteer work.

The Betsy Y. Justus NCTA Founders Scholarship
Betsy Justus was the North Carolina Technology Association's
(NCTA) founding CEO, a pioneer among women in technology, and a
North Carolina leader. Upon her passing in the summer of 2011, NCTA
created a scholarship in her name to support young women in North
Carolina who are pursuing an academic and career path in the areas of
Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM), with an emphasis on
technology and engineering.
The scholarship is now a $4,000 grant in the amount of $1,000 per
year of four standard years of college and there are two recipients
each year. The scholarship winner also gets a personal computer
provided by Lenovo. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements.

The Fallen Linemen Foundation Scholarship
The Fallen Linemen Foundation Scholarship has been created to assist
students that are the children of linemen interested in pursuing a
college education. Three $1,000 scholarships will be offered to
qualifying students to pursue their education in a post-secondary
school.

Services. The deadline is May 31, 2015.
Raleigh Jaycees Scholarship
The Raleigh Jaycees will award scholarships to Wake County students
who have demonstrated leadership through community service.
This year, this organization will award $1,000 to a student who enrolls
at a four-year college or university and $1,000 to a student who
enrolls at a technical or community college.
Other eligibility criteria include graduation from a Wake County high
school in 2015; maintenance of a B or better average; participation
and leadership in community service activities; recommendation by an
administrator, counselor, teacher, employer, or community service
supervisor; and submission of a complete application by June 1,
2015.

Savvi Formalwear: Small Business Employee
Scholarship
Wake and Durham County High School Seniors who have worked
during high school for a small business for at least one year may apply
for this $500 scholarship. The individual must be pursuing technical or
college courses in the Fall Semester of 2015.
To apply for this scholarship, students must submit the following
information (in two pages or less): (1) Your high school name and
intended college or technical school name, (2) High school
employment – including company’s name, dates of employment and
supervisor’s name and contact information, (3) Your responsibilities,
successes and challenges in your duties, and (4) The lessons your
small business employer has taught you and your uses for those gifts.
Submissions must be emailed to savviprom@savviNC.com by June 2,
2015. Scholarship recipients must agree to allow Savvi Formalwear to
publish your name and photo through social media, Savvi Formalwear
website and in-store visual displays.
Abbott and Fenner Scholarship Program
Abbott & Fenner Business Consultants will be awarding up to $1,000 to
the winner(s) each year. Interested students will submit an essay on
the topic that appears on the scholarship page. The scholarship
deadline is June 15, 2015. Students may visit its website for full

NC State Chapter of the Sigma Phi Epsilon – Balanced
Man Scholarship
The NC State chapter of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity is offering
three one-time scholarships in the amounts of $1,000, $500, and $250
to incoming freshmen men attending NC State for the 2015 academic
year.
This organization’s mission is to build Balanced Men and its goal is to
reward men who exemplify the qualities of a Sound Mind and a Sound
Body.
To qualify for the Balanced Man Scholarship, incoming students must
submit an application by July 1, 2015 and enroll, full-time, at NC
State for the 2015 Fall-term. Applicants can apply online

AMDA Scholarships
AMDA offers Bachelor of Fine Arts Degrees and Conservatory Programs
in the Performing Arts. AMDA has two campuses – one on the Upper
West Side of Manhattan and the other in the heart of Hollywood.
AMDA offers over $10 million in scholarship awards each year.
Individual annual awards range from $1,000 to $18,000. Scholarships
are awarded based on talent, merit, academic excellence, and financial
need. All accepted students are eligible to apply for AMDA
scholarships. Students interested in admission and/or scholarship
